Hello to all. I have a noob question. I have searched alot of post but i haven't found the answer to my question. I was wondering if I could veg my plants for 2 weeks from seeds and then turn on the 12/12 cycle? I realize that I would not get very much bud that is ok. I have time issues. Also is there any way to speed up the flowering process? One last question. If my lights were off completely during flowering to 2 days how bad would it F with everything? All advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

you can flower you plants whenever you want, granted youre growing under indoors.
dont think you can speed up flowering...not a part of the cycle you want to rush.
dark periods during flowering are ok. they must get a minimum of 12 hours darkness each day.

and welcome to RIU

I switched to 12/12 today and they're probably only 7-8 inches tall. Some people flower from seed.

Yes you can 12/12 them if they are 12".you can't speed up the flower procss, but you can slow it. Keeping your MayJ's in the dark for two days will not give your buds the light they need to properly photosynthesize you plant to help produce resins at dark hours.KEEP SMOKE ALIVE!!

i have a 12/12 from seed journal right now

also one thing to note if you will veg for 2 weeks you should note that it will take the plant still another week or so before it starts to go into veg itself

as for finishing when you do 12/12 from seed or spout you will have to adjust your time frame

add another week if youre growing under hps and close to two weeks under cfl... so a plant that says 7-9 weeks, youre looking at 8.5 - 11 or so, with that veg youre looking at 10.5 - 13 total weeks

I would like to thank everyone for there help! One more question for you guys. Does it still only take two weeks to see the sex of the plant when you go 12/12 from seed/sprout.

Monkee. I checked out your journal and you inspired me to go straight to 12/12. I guess it took about yours 30 days to show sex?

I got a question about transplanting also. I started my girls (i hope) in 5 in pots. I know I will need to move them to bigger pots eventually. The current pots i'm using have many slots in the bottom for drainage. My question is could I drill a bunch of hole in the sides of these pots and just place the current pot i'm using in the larger pots and fill with dirt? I know this sound kinda crazy but the roots would be able to grow out of the slots and holes and this would (i think) eliminate any transplant shock.

Yea, it works, but may be easier if you remove the bottom instead of drilling holes. You might even cut away a bit of the side if you're in plastic, etc.
Loosen the roots a little with your fingers if you do this.

i personally just flip the plant upside-down with my plant in between my fingers, tap and squeeze the pot, and i really never get any trouble transplanting that way. (out of 100 plants, maybe 1 has been damaged using this method)

but if you don't care to use this method, i would make the holes following this format. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e349/Andreoli2005/pothole.jpg

let alone the LITTLE bit of stress that the first method does, the pic method should really cause no harm to any plant as long as you make sure that near the bottom of your current root system, you shake out some of the dirt, and give the roots a chance to breath and start new paths in the dirt.

post some pics when you get a chance.

:peace:
