question 1- If I maintain my water ph at 6.7 with or without nutes and water my plants, do I have to monitor the soil ph too? It seems strange but who am I to know, Its only my 1st grow.

question 2- I have a few dead leaves on one of my two plants. its a Silver Haze sativa. Do I pluck them out? New growth is still forming but I have a few yellowing/browning leaves bottom of the plant.

they are 3 weeks old veg. Silver haze and a WW. 3 cfls 1 400MH changing it to 600 HPS flowering. any tips on when to put these two strains into flowering to get maximum crop?

ph isnt as big of a factor in soil as it is hydro... if your water is a decent ph, your soil should be fine.. but if you're worried about it, check the ph of the runoff water after you water....

your plants look pretty good... the taller one has some nutrient issues to be worked out; but the little one looks wonderful... im not gonna make a diagnosis as to what your problem is with the taller one, but im sure someone a little more knowledgeable on the subject will jump in with some input soon...

suprisingly, both went under the same regiment when it came to nutes. 1 tbspn in 5 liters of water, just to give them a little taste of nutes. Nuted them 2 times only. given them molasses 2 times only (different occasion).

You think I should flower them just before I manage to kill them :P

different strains can/will respond to feeding differently; your feeding seems fine for the lil bushy one, but the taller one is needing some more of something... i'd hit it with a light feeding and see if it starts to look a little better...

if its dead, it will fall off on its own.... if you cant stand to look at it, pull on the leaf lightly, if it comes off with little to no resistance, then it was ready to come off; if not, then leave the ugly leaf on there

gogrow, do you think its a nute def or over nute? I didnt give it that much though. Twice in in its life cycle.

it looks to me like a deficiency for sure.... as for what, i cant be certain... but from what it looks like, i would start with magnesium... it can be fixed with a little epsom salt... if that isnt the problem.......

man, yellowing is increasing since yesterday. damnnn!!!!!
1 tblsp. of plant food per 5 liters is alot of salts with most foods, see my sig link. Let's get to the bottom of this regarding your everyday practices. What's the NPK value of the food, does it contain micros?

Plants fare better when fed with every watering, usually. It depends on the nature of the soil and the type of salts used in the food - ammonical based (ammonium phosphate) are held to soil particles where nitrates are readily leached out.

You need to stop the yellowing leaf process now. You lose the very unit that produces your bud and your in deep doo doo.

Post edit - Iguana juice is a 3-1-3, a strong hit at a recommended rate of "Mix 15 ml per liter (1 tbsp per quart) of water". By comparison Alaska fish emulsion, 5-1-1, is recommended at a rate of 1 Tblsp. per gallon (4 liters) for indoor plants. That's 1/4 what AN is recommending but then again when it comes to AN, you really never know about them except that they're charging too much for what you get.

Uncle Ben beat me to asking about NPK numbers. Those will be helpful.

I've had odd cases of N def. that didn't look so classic but adding N helped

Before I tell you to add anything I want to know exactly what that plant is being fed.

What I'm reading regarding the looks of your plants, is a micro deficiency witness the chlorotic leaves and some yellowing on the plant to the left. That suggests a N deficiency and being the chlorosis is starting at the bottom and working its way up, could be a Mg deficiency too, but I doubt it. During veg you should be using a high N food, something like a 30-10-10 or a 9-3-6 with chelated micros. I like to add the meals (blood and bone) to my soil because they are slow release which plants like.

Another thing that needs to be considered is whether or not there is a nutritional charge in your soil, and if so for how long. If you see green pellets, that is a slow release encapsulated food called Polyon and will carry the plant for about 4 months.

thanks for the input uncle ben. My soil mix is totally organic with 30% perlite.
Would I get a nute burn if I give it organic nutes like Iguana juice? My Ec/Ph tester has not arrived yet and Im afraid to over nute, thats why I hardly ever nute it.

Depends on the original nutritional charge like I said in the previous post. They look good except for the chlorosis which needs correcting.

If I don't know what the makeup is of your soil and plant food regarding NPK and micros, then I can't make a decent assessment of what is wrong other than reading your plants as opined. I have burned plants with organics in my custom blends. If organics didn't have chemicals, salts, they would be useless.

why are you giving it molasses? as i understand you dont give it any molasses until you are flowering, but i could be mistaken. awesome lookin plants, nice and bushy

God oh god, I just came back from work and behold what I saw. The little plant seems amazing, as usual, but the big plant, I'll let the pics speak for themselves.
Is it a nute burn? nute def or mag def? If its the latter, Im going out to but epsom salt asap!!!!!!!!

The bottom leaves are completely dead I presume, and its spreading. I really liked the Super silver haze, you think it's going to make it to flowering? Should I flower it asap?

My Ph/Ec tester is here, what ppm should I be giving her? I still dunno if Im over loading (which I highly doubt) or under loading her with nutes :(:(:(

MAN!!! even the small plant seems to be affected. Its really bushy so I couldnt tell. I was taking a closer look just now and, although it seems all healthy and green, One bottom leaf (hidden between the bush) has turned very light green to yellow. Ill post some pics god this is devastating. This is my 1st proper grow, third in total, but I have never seen my plants determine sex or produce buds. Im such a failure :(

The more I read the more Im confused as the symptoms can be nute burn, lack of nutes, lack of mg and ph fluctuation!!!!!!!!!
