so i have two problems on two different strains. both are in the same veg room with 6 mothers

Quantium Kush, planted in 1 gal rogue soil, vegged 2 weeks about 1 foot tall, just starting to tie down, put in 7g half super soil per subs recipe +added kelp and alpha meal, neem seed meal about a week ago (soil cooking 3.5 weeks now), half rogue soil from bag (similar to roots), ph 6.5-6.8water and silica, sprayed with nuke-um for bugs a couple times. dark purple stems. leaves are going from 5 to 3 to 1 leaflets. (backwards from normal 3,5, 7) some have 4, some are missing the back small leaflets with 3 blades. this is only happening on 2 of 5 QKs . heavy twisting, curling, dark leaves. looks like its trying to reveg for some reason.
----my guess is russet mites, soil mites or hot soil?

pandoras box in 7 gal of straight rogue soil. been vegging 3-4 weeks now. about 2ft tall sprayed with nuke-um also, redish stems in sections, kinda random TACO ing to the point of the tips are touching on new growth ONLY. fan leaves are flat and healthy. this red stem has me baffled
-----my guess is russet mites, broad mites, soil mites or deficency

did bug searches with 60-100x scope and 10x, but cant seem to see anything moving on the stems or leafs. i see hairs and clear balls. all the plants are doing good, some other mothers Jack and La Sweet some are showing the tacoing, but not as bad. the moms were rescues we had to re pot and love after they were cloned heavily. i am seeing white roots coming out of the drain holes on all plants. so that is a good healthy sign.

the only bug i can see is a small white soil mite, looks like a clear tick, face in front with 6-8 legs) round clear body, slow moving, small and larger ones. some (internet and ladybug people) say its harmless hysposiais mite (sp), IDK? can see with 10x scope on potato in soil. nothing works on it BTI, Spinosad, evergreen, neem seed, nuke-em, safer soap, (bout to do h2o2 just to see if i can get rid of them). i have also seen a clear body oval shaped fast running with 2 front antanni on the potato, but in smaller quantities than the soil mite described above)

here are some pics, any ideas?
thanks for reading

try EZ-wet i just mentioned this on another post ,I use it as even if i don't see bugs just in case, better to prevent then battle is what I've been learning. I haven't made my own soil yet but if I where to have an educated guess that looks like it might be way too hot try cutting it with some coco
here is a link to explain better

Sounds like root aphids. Most aphids are opaque/clear, some clear some amber, some even darker. They look like little beetles or ticks or even overgrown spider mites. They devour your roots, rather quickly, and your plants show signs of various nutrient deficiencies.

When these beetles mature they turn into things that appear to be fungus gnats, but faster and harder to catch. You can identify them by trying to catch one, it wont be easy like a gnat. Gnats float slowly, winged root aphids are faster and run across surfaces quickly.

Root aphid infestations are almost impossible to eliminate. If you catch it early there are two options.

Recommended Option: Nematodes
Not Recommended Option: Imidacloprid or IMID. This systemic pesticide can be found im products such as Merit 75 or Bayer Tree and Shrub.

I dont recommend IMID at all but it will work. It is systemic and if you choose to use it doing so in flower can hurt patients or recreational users so please consider this.

Also purple stems are normally from high pH which locks out phosphorus. Or it could be lack of phosphorus.

Taco'ing or praying towards the light can be two things:

1. Heat stress, are the tops of your colas too close to your lights?
2. Magnesium, ether a lockout or deficiency. Mag gets locked out at low pH levels. Or the mag in your soil is depleted.

not RA. i have had them before. i know the difference. i even brought a sample to the people that make preditory bugs here in town and they said common soil mite, not harmfull, but i am skeptic. like i said roots are healthy on the last transplant. no waxy build up that RAs do.

they are under t5 lamps 80F ...not heat stress.

the problem is only on a few plants. or is more severe on a few plants and less on others.

right now i am putting my money on russet mites, but i cant see the buggers.

A couple of my plants are taco'ing too. I'm not certain what it is yet, but my first guess was either too hot or too much wind from the fan. I'm going to keep mag deficiency in mind too. Hope it s not a pest issue.

I'm so glad I saw this post and thank you!! I went home for lunch just to check and what do you know - I spotted a russet mite. I removed the plants that were showing these signs and probably going to just toss them. Not worth trying to treat them at this stage. They were clones from craigslist (bad idea) and I don't want them to infect the other plants I have from seed I the same room. Hopefully they haven't spread - the other plants aren't showing bad signs yet (keeping fingers crossed)

so had a reputiable garden store look at samples of leaf, soil and potatoes under scopes and microscope

no russet, no broad mites present.

i do have preditory mites in the soil. he said they have to be eating something?
and my soil might be too cold and not breaking down nutrients properly giving me nut problems.

he said russets are no joke, bomb your room babakh, take every precaution.

Oldschooltofu did you ever figure out exactly what the bugs were or how to treat? I have the very same bug. Got in my environment through being in a bag of organic soil. I couldnt give a better description of the bugs than you did. Please tell me you figured something out
