2 mars 300 vs. 300w hps?

I have 2 mars hydro 300 led light aI got a few months ago. And now I'm reading I'm hearing they are not so great when compared to an hps. I also have a dimmable 600 watt hps in a cooltube. The reason I got the leds was for heat issues my last grow in my apartment but I have since moved to a house and will be using a closet. I'm thinking I can vent much better being I can crawl in the attic now....which of the the 2 light will give me better results

The Mars lights you have run at 140 watts, I have a few myself and I like them. Will they put out the same amount light intensity as the 600 watt hps? No. But they are still great little lights for propagation and veg. They off better efficiency and better spectrum as well. Get two more and you'll be right up there against a single 600. I like using more, smaller, lights as opposed to one higher wattage light anyways. You can manipulate light coverage much better.

I might not even be able to run the hps at 100%. My house sit at 85f right now. When I tried to run my ac at 78f my bill almost doubled....I'm thinking more so 2 mars 300 vs. 300 hps...which would mean equal wattage...

I would probably still want to add another Mars light in there, they are cheap enough. How big is the closet?

My closet is 2x4x8. If buying another mars is not an option should I just run the hps? I would rather use the $70 to pay my light bill. With the lights I have now which one would perform and yield the most

Hell, use all 3. However keeping your tamps down is going to be one of your biggest issues. The leds helps here a little as well as using less wattage. Even running 3 mars lights you'd be at roughly 420 watts opposed to 600.

I'm not going to try 600 on the hps. Just run it at 50% or 300 watts

yup, i have a 600w dimmable and a mars reflector in a 3x3, i dim the hps in the afternoon as it gets warm. i can leave my tents open for cooling tho, also. i got the HID because i needed the heat in winter. I have 2 other small tents, one led only, one led and a 125watt gull wing cfl. i like mixed spectrums, makes me happy

If it were me, I'd get a cooltube and run vertical hps in it, right in the middle of the area. That would then increase the yield on the lower parts of the plants. Then I'd run the leds at the top, 1 either side of the cool tube duct :weed:

To me electricity costs and not having to worry about overheating are the most important factors. So LED all the way. But for 2x4 I'd say you need at least 2 300's, if not 4.

Yeah, thats pretty damn hot even with the a/c lol, You might even need to run the a/c even with the led's if ambient is 85f or just use lights at night.
