Wondering how close I should keep my two 42W cfl's from my 2 week old from seed plant? I have them on a y adapter. They are about 1 3/4"-2" away and it doesn't seem very hot at the leaves. Should this be OK it seems to be growing well in a small party cup so far.

They should be fine where they are. Just keep an eye on your plants and if they start stretching out then just lower them a lil

You should be A okay. Try not to get closer than an inch. A good way to test if its too hot is put your finger or hand right above the plant, if it is too hot for you, its too hot for the plant. :)

If you are at 2 weeks you would probably be at the point where you are going to need to transplant to a larger container soon. with 84 watts I would recommend at least 1-2 gallons in size for healthy roots. With 2 x 42 watt cfl's you can possibly get 30-40 grams or so for a yield from that amount of power give or take depending on your genetics. Good luck!

thanks it was just some bag seed from a friend. Gonna put it in a bigger container tomorrow. thanks for the help. Lowe's has some CFL's equal 300w has anyone used those that you know of. I will in a few months have a nice big room with 1000w HPS so that should be cool.
