I have one question. I currently have one 250w HPS and one 250w MH. The question is would i be better off using one 400w HPS for flower or use the two 250 watters for flower?

MH metal halide is for green growth (daylight), Sodium HPS light for flowering. But HPS can be used for both. (From what i learnt from here anyways ;))

Thanks, I have heard that using a hps and mh will give me more of a full spectrum and therfore better bud production. Is this true?

Well if your talking about useing a 250hps and a 250mh for the flowering stage then that would be better I think then just useing one 250hps.

The more watts the better is the rule.

*MH for VEG

*HPS all the way for flowering

If you want optimal lighting then 2/3 of your watts are HPS and 1/3 are MH but then you should be using light rails to move the lights. Who wants to spend money for that shit is the next question (a couple of hundred bucks for moving light rails).

Anything else is mickey mouse and defaults back to MH for VEG and HPS for Flowering. :joint: :peace:

Thanks Chinga. In my situation i dont belive that a light mover would be needed. I am only in the design phaze right now. I am planning on a 30" X 30" X 60" cabinet. Would I still need light rails/movers?

No. That area is too small for light rails but the rule still applies for mixed spectrums.

So there would be no benefit to use a 250 hps and 250 mh for flower vs a 400 hps?
I would be using the more watts rule is better.

If the choice was between ONE 400 watt HPS or a 250 watt HPS & MH for flower, I would use both lights.

That is 500 watts of MH & HPS.

The more watts the better. I always go back to the simple rule. It works.

im going to be using a 400w dual spectrum for veg and a 600w hps for flowering hope this will work out its a closet grow so i will have plenty light and i have 85% reflective stuff coming home soon
