So this is my first attempt at vertical , just a crude set up 3'x3' room with 360w conversion over 400w hps lower (under)002.jpg005.jpg008.jpg012.jpg016.jpg , I am 25 days in from flipping to 12/12 and I have a few questions for you all , I have to say the stretch phase was not at all that much ,maybe because of bulb placement on my part but overall I had a 4-6 inch stretch ,but again the strain is mostly indi .

I would like your opinion on how you think these are faring as far as there 25 days in flower , and also do you think a single 600w set up would due better then what I have going on now, and what vertical set up you think would due best in this 3'x3'x8'H .

Lookin good! Personally, I think your better off with two lamps if your really wanting to get vertical. Get creative, build some shelves into the walls, stack plants, prune the hell out of em during veg. If it doesn't get light, get rid of it. I run a fairly large vert system and they have their own issues that need to be managed and dialed in. I'm still putting pics up, but you can kinda see what I have cooking on the thread I started in vertical gardens. More pics will hopefully be posted today. As far as lights, get the biggest wattage u can afford and can manage the heat from, you won't regret it. You might also consider building a cage around your lamps, plants outside of cage and trained into it. 3x3 is a small space for vert though.

This sounds quite similar to me. I'm running a 360w conversion HPS bulb (with attached ballast) that I flipped upside down and am now running vertical. It's just the one light, and I'm just now starting to get plants ready for a vert setup (i.e., vegging for walls, not low and wide). I look forward to checking back into this thread soon!

Cheers!

I definitely say you will see the benefit , but if you can as Bubba said add more lights . the 360 conversion is ok , I was running that because my igniter in that ballast failed ,and I have the 360 for back up ,when a problem like I had occurs. but a 400hps is definitely better. good luck

I think 3' in diameter with the bulbs you mention in your post is fine. If you want, kick it up to 600W HPS.

I place large plants against the outside of my trellis and train just the growing tips through, and I'm happy with my results thus far. It gives me great coverage and total control over the plant, which in my opinion is one of the great strengths of vertical trellis systems in the first place.

Your space seems oddly tall. Subtract what you use for roots and ventilation underneath, and up near the top and I will bet your optimal growing zone is closer to five feet or even a bit less. Nothing wrong with this, just get as much of your plant mass inside this area as you can to maximize your use of light.

Have a look at my thread, it may help give you ideas.
