1st time soil grow issue.

Started a couple of bagseed about a month ago while waiting for my new light and seeds to arrive. Topped them about 4 days ago. My first time growing in soil (usually hydro) so I'm not too familiar with it. Trying to get some input on these since they just started changing color yesterday. Thanks fellow blades!

What kind of soil and have you fed them?

Soil is Harvest Organics from Lowe's and no I have not fed them anything yet. Didn't have many options on soil and went ahead and opted for that brand since this isn't a super serious grow, just kind of killing time and learning some new shit while my other stuff gets here.

Here are the amounts we’ve found will produce the best-tasting buds and strongest medicines:

  • 8 large bags of a high-quality organic potting soil with coco fiber and mycorrhizae (i.e., your base soil)
  • 25 to 50 lbs of organic worm castings
  • 5 lbs steamed bone meal
  • 5 lbs Bloom bat guano
  • 5 lbs blood meal
  • 3 lbs rock phosphate
  • ¾ cup Epson salts
  • ½ cup sweet lime (dolomite)
  • ½ cup azomite (trace elements)
  • 2 tbsp powdered humic acid

Thanks but I'm not replanting these ladies. Like I mentioned, this is a learning experience for the most part. Just trying to get a diagnosis and possibly a fix in hopes to produce some decent buds.

How often are you watering? they hate staying wet. in a small pot they tend to go root bound and bonzi on you. I did it, it was fun. but i do encourage to let your roots run wild in a 5gallon bucket that's only 2 bucks.

I believe those pots are pretty close to 5 gal. I check the soil daily and only water if its dry. How deep should I be checking the soil? I usually go down an inch or two.

Burnt from the light? They're under an old T5 about 6-8" away. Didn't think that would cause any harm. My room temps never go above 70 fahrenheit. Possibly too cold maybe?

First ... find a suitable soil STAT......Typical Bagged mix from large garden centers ... no real nutritional value to your plants.
It comprises Almost entirely of Pine bark , perlite and peat With “ some “ kind of fertilizer, probably pelletized like Miracle gro.

It is some an early magnesium deficiency. Intervein yellowing .

Find a local nursery or a hydro shop for better bagged like Happy Farm , Kelloggs organic , Dr. Earth potting , Mother’s Groundswell ( ace hardware ) , fox farms .... these are loaded with better elements for growth and some have thriving microbial life.

Fox Farms OF will grow on water only for at least 5 weeks .
Dr. Earth has vey good soil and a excellent dry fertilizer line too.
You can also run promix but will have to feed into it. Like with Dr. Earth life / homegrown. Megacrop will work too.

Flat out it’s the medium.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely try to get something better this weekend then. What should I be looking for in regards to N-P-K ratios?

Should I just buy one or mix them? My local Home Depot has Dr. Earth's pot of gold I can pickup Friday.
