1st time grower here.

Hi, i got my seed from a friend, I don't know what kind of seed it is. it has been almost 3 weeks now and its 11" tall. im using a combination of sunlight and 1 fluorescent tube with 20w (cool daylight). im planning to transfer it into a closet. how many more 20w fluorescent tubes should i use? im from the Philippines, specifically in the high lands. normally the temperature here is 14 degrees Celsius, im want to be an indoor grower since it is not totally legal to grow here.

consider the fact that we are not that advanced when it comes to agriculture and no growlight is locally sold here. MH and HPS are not also available at my place. please help.

Can you get bigger and better fluorescents/CFLs? 20w def won't cut it alone.

for 1 plant u would need 5-6 20w tubes, to even get close to a decent yeild. goto your hardware/lighting stores and try find a 100watt bulb

Some security lights are a good source of HPS or MH lights.

well, lets hope you live alone and not with your parents. If so you should be fine.
Try to get 4-5 more CFL's in the 2700k spectrum . they should be fine for a first time( worked for me )
DONT UNDERESTIMATE THE SMELL THE PLANTS WILL GIVE OFF ... you will get used to it because you will spend most of your time near the plant (im pretty sure you will ), but others will notice it from 10metres away. close your plant in a closet/big box, and get a carbon scrubber from the internet. trust me you won't regret it

im going to add two more ballasts that can handle 2 40W tubes plus maybe 4 CFLS with 20W each. will that be sufficient?
the smell is starting to be noticeable. ill take note on the carbon scrubbers. can i use some aerial sprays to kill the odor?

this mite be a really silly question but cant u just purchase a HPS over the internet and get it delivered? im guessing there are some strict importing laws.

shipping here would not be that easy. it may take weeks or even months before the product arrives, second im from the Philippines, now im not saying that people here are not careful of what they deliver but, some are just like that, the package may arrive damaged and third it will cost me a lot of money for that.

by the way guys, anyone of you heard about UV tubes used as a grow light?
