1st time grow. Plants supposed to look this way?

"First time" grower. I put in many hours of research to try to ensure that this all goes well. These plants are 3 weeks today from the time they sprouted. They are about 5 inches tall. When I compare pics of plants at this age I don't see the node growth as tight or as much "undergrowth." They look pretty good to me but I have only I have only ever done small crap closet grows under CFL. Is this the way healthy plants should appear? Will the nodes elongate over time? Thanks for the insight!

Tormented,
Like Burnzy said...within normal limits. The tight node spacing is mostly regulated by light. Both color temp and intensity. Also all plants grow a little differently regarding undergrowth and such. If you need them to be taller...some red light may help...though most people like tight nodes...
Cheers,
JD

Appreciate the responses! I do have them under some red light as well so I will hope to see them get taller but stay tight. Hope to remain pleasantly surprised:)

I like to keep my plants more compact, so I try to limit node spacing. At least through veg, but I like em short.

I definitely want them to remain nice and tight. I just couldn't find many similar pics at this age. (Saw some horrendous ones). Just wanted to be sure I was on the right track. Without having too much experience I figured it was wiser to reach out to the knowledged.

They look similar to my Pineapple Express plant at day 24. Beautiful man, keep it up.

So now I have some relatively short, bushy plants. Tomorrow I'm transplanting them into 5 gallon air pots. Plan to flip them in 2-3 weeks.

The initial hope was to have at least 4 females to flower with. I wound up with 7. I only have a 4x4 tent. I know they should ideally have 1 square foot each but it'd be heart wrenching to have to toss 3.

What would happen if I went with 5 or 6? Any suggestions appreciated

lol, I was expecting to see shitty plants going by the title of the thread. You are killing it. Good work.

My original intention was to only do 4. I was just blessed by the ganja gods with a few more. In the end, like everyone I'd guess, its all about yield. Would 4 "properly" spaced plants out yield 7 closely grown plants?

4 plants 7 plants it doesnt matter.

Grow 4=Longer veg time for plants to fill up tent than for 7 to fill it up.

Go for the 7.
It's not about how big/old the plant is, but about how full you fill your space

Full is full.

I'm upgrading my space right now from 3x4 to 4x4 ran on 2 315W Cmh.
I only "plan" to grow 6 plants but that's because I want them to take their time and get big.
But bet your ass when pruning time comes and I end up with 30+ clones they will All get veg and flipped quick in a SOG in that 4X4 space. :)

My ladies (first grow too) 8 week veg under crap florescent light, 1 week into flower under 1 315 CMH for a week now...3 plants bag seeds...20190725_200003.jpg 20190725_200021.jpg

Very nice! Yours are bushy like mine are. After talking with a grower friend of mine i will definitely just keep them all and see what happens.

I bought 1 of the famed cheapo chinese led lights (get what you can afford unfortunately) Seems to be going well enough. I dont expect any super sized buds but enough for me and the wife til next grow would sure be sweet. I'm quite over buying it on the street!

Lol exact same reason we started!

I will say I looked into the LED and am glad I went CMH. Just to much confusing reviews on LED for me.

If yours doesnt work out for you look up Hydrocrunch 315W CMH on Ebay. Got the light, Phillips 3100k pro bulb, 2 straps and a timer for $180.
I'm so impressed I'm ordering another in 2 weeks!

Best of luck to you.

Very nice. I did look into cmh and will likely add 1 down the line. On a normal occasion I kill any plant I touch. So before I went and put too much into it I decided to make sure that I could ACTUALLY accomplish a grow.

I completely understand. I've never tried growing squat before so was pretty leary of spending the money too.
But if you're interested <as I am> to see what a CMH does I've got a post up here of my grow. Will try to keep it updated.
