1st time Coco grow.

Here's my advice what to use.........

Coco specific nutes
pH tester keep pH around 5.8-6.2
EC or ppm monitor

I'm in coco. good choice maman! Watering is a little tricky when the plant is young. That is because the coco retains water very well. Later when the plant starts drinking a lot, the coco releases the water to the plant just as well so thats a very good quality and the watering becomes less tricky. Pearlite in the beginning is what I added to the coco in the starter pot to make the mix a little airier. Seemed to work great. I use cana coco A&B start to finish. Doing the same thing again. The coco is re usable and is supposed to be even better the second and third time. That will save some money.
I think you may not go back to anything else because you like the coco so much. good luck, whatcha growin btw?

I also use Canna Coco a-b with Rhizotonic and Cannazym and i bought some Bloombastic for flower.
I have a 90/90 grow tent with a 400w hid with 8 plants currently in 1l airpots.
Im growing 5x Pineapple Express 1x Alquamista 1x Spicy White Devil and 1x Super Sonic Cristal Storm...the last 3 came free with the pineapple.
 
Also getting into coco and wondering how coco works in an ebb and flow table system VS rockwool.... how many times should it flood for how long? 4 times X 15 min just using the coco nutes?
 
I have grown in nothing but coco for the last 4 years almost. You can use coco in a flood and drain. But most people use coco with a drip system useing drain to waste. If you use coco with a flood and drain system, make sure to get a filter sock for your pumps. Coco should also have a PH of about 5.4-5.8. But to each his own. I find it a terrible idea to add crap to the COCO, while others do. Pffft, to me, you are screwing up the coco and losing all the benifits of it. Like Guanno, You add this crap to COCO and it fucks up all the micro pores in the coco. This is why coco has such a good oxygen to water ratio. 100% COCO with 2 gallon grow bags. A pump with a riser on it, with how ever many feeder lines you need and walla.
But like I said. To each his own. Hell, a few of you like Canna Nutrients. I have tried it 2 different times, each time for 2 crops. And it seemed to allow my PH to go a little wacky inside my coco, mid stride through my crop. Myself, I like the new Cyco A&B and Neptunes Seaweed plant food (same as Liquid karma at 1/3 the cost)
 
Depending on which one you have, you should calibrate it about ever 2-3 times. But some PH meters stay pretty much tits on. I have a PH Pen from Sper Instuments. Only cost about $38 and is still well built. It has internal temp, water proof and holds calibration for weeks. But I also have owned $85 dollar PH pens that can not hold Calibration for more then 2-3 days of use.

Calibrate your pen and use it. then the next time you use it, check the calibration. And mark that number down. If it is the same then go two days the next time. keep doing this until you find out how long your pen will hold calibration. Then knock off about 20% of that time. So if it can go 5 days, 5-(5x.20)= 4 So if your pen can go 5 days with out losing cal. then check it at 4 days.

Hey there. I am confused. You said 4 times X 15 minutes. Ok it looks like you want me to times 15 by 4 two times. But if not it would be 4 times 15 min. Hmmmm so flood ever 60 minutes?

Ok, just funnying there. You would want to flood your trays once every 24 hours. And that depends on the type of COCO. I am talking Coco Coire. With out any crap added. Like Manure, Guanno. and the likes
 
Ya I could have been a little more specific there dangly...I just meant 4 floods per 12 hr....or flood every 3 hours of daylight cycle as it is with hydroton in a flood and drain....doesn't seem like an effective way of doing coco some drip lines and drain to waste seems to be the way to go for sure...

Choose the size of pump, depending on how many plants you want to water. Go to a Hydro store and tell them you want X about of drip line fittings and a Punch tool. Take the Pump and connect an 18'-20' hose onto the top of the pump with a hose clamp, On the end of the hose fit a PVC plug and tighten it down with another hose clamp. Now. One each side of the Hose use the punch tool to make the holes for the drip line fitting for the smaller hoses that will lead to each plant. So lets say you want to water 12 plants. You would come up one side of the hose with 6 holes and the other side with 6 more hole. Push the drip fittings into the hole you made and connect the drip lines. On the other ends of the lines you put the Drip stake that you push down into the Coco.

Ok, I went and took pictures of my set up. Hope it helps. These are simple and fast to make.

first time grower here, and gonna be using Canna Coco. Do I have to use nutrients? I find them to be a little confusing, any help would be grateful!

Coco Has Zero nutrients in it. You have to feed it water and nutrients. Myself, I do not like the Canna Nutrient line. I use Cyco A&B and Neptunes Organic Seaweed plant food. and that is all.. Neptunes is the same thing as liquid karma.

What's 1/3rd cost? The seaweed or the cyco. I like the experience factor here so I'm all ears!!
