i'd much rather work with a stable, true breeding strain such as c99 for that pineapple, citrus flavor instead of sdg any day of the week.
that's not the ONLY pheno of C99. joey weed's C99s had a more fruity haze pheno, but the textbook racy euphoric and clearheaded high, and one of 'the best" C99s these days, according to reports, is mosca negra's, and that has a wide range of phenos besides potent pineapple including stonier ones. if there's a true breeding potent pineapple C99, then some other breeder has it.
this should be fun to say the least.....im not looking for the holly grail.....but im sure there will be somthing out of my critical crosses that will stand out
exactly! that's the spirit! you know you'll get some hybrid vigor out of everything in the f1s at least, and should have a blast TESTING everything to find out where the best synergies are.
too many growers get so uptight and control freaky about everything when it's perfectly legit to just chuck pollen for many of us because we can, and the whole process itself only adds to the fun of growing. it makes more sense to me than cloning an army of identical plants that are more prone to stress related issues. that, and it just makes the plants happy reproducing.
sure, if you want to enter the cannabis cup, (if you could even trust it) you should select parents from a field of 100 and test males, but if you're just having fun with your own gear and looking to improve it to your own tastes, selecting plants at the strain level, instead of the pheno one makes more sense and gives you a much wider variety to select from short of BXing.
if you start with two awesome parents from ANY strain, you should get something as nice or even better out of the offspring. that's the whole point of sexual reproduction, jumbling them genes up! too much stabilization, and eventually you run into genetic waning and eventually fatal recessive genes.
imagine all the new and wonderful strains we might have today if cloning was never invented and everyone had to chuck pollen.
