Hi and welcome to my journal;
This is my first grow ever, the main purpose for this journal is to track my progress and also for input and feedback from others. Without these forums I would have no idea what todo, so thank you. Also, this is a bagseed so pray to god that SHE is a FEMALE!

SPECS:

Light cycle: Keeping on 24/0 until it is sprouted for a few days, then turning to 18/6

 Lighting: 6 26w cfls 2700k (only 3 are in use because it hasnt sprouted yet)

Growspace: 1.5x2 cardboard box with aluminum foil *UPDATED* to white latex paint

Air curculation: 2 PC fans one intake and one outtake

Soil: Some old sunshine mix (not sure what # I think #4 because it says its used for african violets which has some of the same nutes marijuana uses)

:leaf:Plant food: Miracle Grow water soluble 18-24-16 (when should I use this because the soil has some nutes in it)

OK so here are the pics

The plant was just germinated and planted, should sprout up soon.

It's some bagseed from some really good bud, I'm hoping it will sprout up out of that soil by tomorrow morning. I am pretty positive about this working. Hoping for a female, that is my biggest concern.

Oh yeah, thanks for posting! :D

+rep for first post

Hey Crazy, thanks for sharing your grow. There is nothing wrong with ghetto grows, I myself am continuously evolving mine. Looks like your off to a good start with the grow area. Do you have any closer pictures of your light setup? Also what is the height limit? I would not add nutes at least for a few weeks, depending on the growth. If it is just exploding then some doses of 1/4 strength would probably not hurt. Have you done any temp tests?

As for the reflective material I would go with the flat white paint. I know it might be a pain to undo everything an paint the interior but your plants will thank you in the long run. For my first box(veg) I used the emergency blankets, the only thing bad about them is 1 layer allows light to go through it. Using 2 layers might work but then you have to deal with fixing both to the surface. My flower box is gettin sprayed with flat white.

Hey Cransi thanks for posting, Yeah emergency blankets are very thin so I think I would go with flat white paint, My lights are about 8 inches away from the plant to encourage upward growth so it will sprout faster, then I will put them about 3 inches away and most likely go with some LST, I might just top it because I know how to LST I just cant find an in depth guide on how it works or how it makes more colas or whatever. If you have one I would love a link I am going to be reading a lot.

I am using my PC webcam, So I don't have any closeups of the light setup because I can't see the screen while im taking a picture. Very complicated haha.

I think I will start adding nutes once I transplant it into a bigger pot and see how it settles, there are already nutes in the soil, so if I transplant it into a bigger pot there will be more soil in the pot making more nutes for it to absorb, so I'm not too sure when to add the nutes or if I even should. I want to during flowering though, so probably then or I will let it veg for a little longer and feed it some nutes to get use to them before flowering it.

As for temp tests I have a thermostat in there and it is a steady 75-80 if thats what you mean

Thanks for posting and I love feedback, will update tomorrow.

Pumacat2010, Temps are 75-80 always they are fleuros so there is pretty much no heat and I have two pc fans so it is perfect

I just checked again and **She is coming up! I see the seed is on top of the soil**
Hopefully in a few hours while I'm gone she will be up and I will move the lights slightly closer when I get back!

Thanks for posting!!

What up growguy? Good luck on your grow! I use the same lights as you and she grew just fine! I bought me a automobile sun reflector from walmart for 8 bucks and it works perfect. Home depot has a holdall moisture, light, ph all in one meter think it was 8 bucks also and that has helped me a lot with watering...sub'd..

@Puma I will be vegging for probably 2months or until I'm satisfied with her size, and don't worry you're not hijacking and I like to see other people grows too!

@Letitgrow77 good to hear your grow went well, The automobile sun reflector sounds like a good idea. Wish I had a home depot around here!!! Thanks for subbing and posting! Hope for a female!!

Hmm, the seed is ontop of the soil, just sitting there, I wonder if this is normal? or if it should be up out of the soil more.. Hmm any thoughts?

Just got back from Lowe's and got some flat white paint. Anyone know how long I should let it air out before putting my plant back in the box and what todo with her meanwhile?

i would give it enough time for the paint to dry and then get those fans cranking, once the smell ismostly gone i think u will be alright im going to be using a similar set up but im going to use wood until i get my tent, and im buying a cfl fixture at 420 w 24000 k

Don't worry about the smell so much, latex paint is water soluble and won't hurt anything. Latex paint will feel. . . soft-ish while its still wet. Once it feels like a regular painted wall its dry.

Is latex paint recommended? I am going to use a rattle-can of Valspar flat white enamel on cardboard. Does rattle-can paint have to many harmful compounds in it for a grow enclosure?
