Got the chiller, its what caused me to sit on the system for a year before finally firing it up... Wiping the slime off 1" hose 25' long tho.... not an option. (Gotta get to outside the room for chiller)
Hearing confirmation a uniseal will work on a 5gal bucket kinda makes my entire life so much less stressful, and my week a lot more work filled, thanks for the reply!

This is all I do now that I Learned its an issue... just lift the girl up to check the roots, and when ya do... give her a spin if needed. Pull the airstone/hose thru there to drag the roots back to the other side if ur scared to contaminate the water with touch...

its for flood n drain systems... its meant to prevent grow medium from entering the rez.
Roots will creep right into that baby... then if you try to lift the plant, SNAP!
Avoid this guy unless its for a drain fitting on a flood table.

it will work and it will fail too. better be prepared to join the flood club. a nearby floor drain always helps.
i dont' know why people don't use square 5 gal buckets i.e. cat litter containers. a uniseal or bulkhead will always wrok way better on a flat vs rounded surface.

Just cut your hole with a 3" hole saw and make sure you do a really good job.it's not hard. Just let the saw cut straight in with the curve. Don't let the bucket flex at all.

Lets say Uniseals on curved and spin-tite for flats! And 4gal buckets may be adequate in a recirc system.... depending on the rate of flow, and root growth..
Not gonna do it, cuz I got a lot of round buckets, n no cats, but its a thought...
Just know that regular totes would buckle, and legit modules for my CCH2O system would be like 50-60 bucks per module for the bucket/lid....

I had a Uni-Seal split at the seam once and I didn't trust using them ever again. Bulkheads were really the way to go for me. People swear by Uni-Seals though and I have seen plenty not leak. Getting the pipe through those Uni-Seals was some fucking work I will tell you that. I had to buy lube from Wal-Mart.
