so my plant started leaning today. i dunno if my fan is too strong or if i watered it too much and its weakening but twice today i found it slouching against the side of the pot. whats causing this?

i was thinking about adding some more soil to the pot on the top and packing it around the stem so less stem is exposed to the air for a more sturdy structure. what say everyone?

sorry it took me so long to get back.. i was busy yeterday... havent been on since yesterday morning!

so your idea with the soil sounds good... definatly will give it some added structure... can you post a pic of the plant and where the fan was and the speed it was on?? just trying to put all the pieces together in my head before i say anything... until then just get a pencil or something and tie the stem to the pencil to hold it up...

eh, i got rid of the fan that did it. it wasnt its usual fan it was a new one that was a little stronger so i just dont have it in there anymore. im back to my rotating tall fan and the 2 computer fans for now and she hasnt leaned over since yesterday. I didnt add any soil but i used the soil already in there to pack around the stem and it seems to be working. Here soon i wanna lift up the whole plant and soil and add some more soil to the bottom then more to the top. Right now the pot is like half way full of soil. i didnt want to add too much when it was young but now this may be its perminent home so im gonna add more soil i think.

What about LST. when should i start that? ill add pics tonight

Week 3 day 3- Heres some new pics (pens there for size referencing), i know you cant tell, but the very bottom set of true leaves (not the seed leaves) the very tip is slightly yellow. Should i worry? or maybe is it from lack of light cuz the top is so vegetative.

Anyways i gotta ask, when should i begin LST?

ya i cant imagine it being ready for flowering yet so it must not be hairs but ya they make a V, and they arent white theyre green. i guess its just another branch about to stem off

its hard to tell without a really good pic if they are the little v's that show maturity or like you said a branch getting ready to sprout out.. can you tell yet??

you want a strong fan moving the air around the closet.. but a smaller fan blowing on the stems is vital for strengthening the stem and keeping fresh air circulating around the plant and to help keep it cool.. if it was leaning over i would guess its due to a weaker stem... so just make sure you keep air moving over them to help keep the stem nice and strong...

the light yellowing could be a sign of a nitrogen def.. you arent feeding any nutes yet are you?? i would prolly say you could start giving 1/4 strength nutes now... it should help her out all around... do you have any specific nutes picked out??

as far as starting LST i cant answer that.. i dont know much about it.. ive seen some started on plant your height and some that are started on taller plants... wish i had that answer for you...

well the soil i have has time release nitrogen tablets that i tried picking out but i obviously couldnt get anywhere near all of them. so theres no chance its just cuz its not getting any light? im worried now

Well heres the update. I think tomorrow is the day im starting LST. Since i have it on a 24 hour light cycle it hasnt grown very tall so theres no side vegetation so nows the time before it gets too much more top heavy.

Heres some things i've noticed that i need advice on if its bad or not

1. Looks like the stem is peeling. Theres a crusty yellow layer falling off revealing a greener main stem underneath. You can see it in the 2nd to last pic.

2. The bottom leaves are turning a lighter green color and the very bottom set of siraded leaves have yellow tips (check picture). Is this a bad sign or is the consistancy among all the bottom leaves reveal that maybe they just arent getting as much light cuz the top is so think and vegetative.

Any more last minute advice about LST is greatly appreciated

yea.. no worries about either bro! the stem is fine.. ive seen this happen before.. its sorta like a snake getting rid of its skin... means its growin! also the yellowing is no big deal... if it is caused by a lack of light it'll get fixed by the LST... we already covered the nitrogen idea.. so unless it gets worse or starts spreading your fine!

So i decided today im not going to be doing LST. I realized i need to add more soil to the pot before i do that cuz this will be perminent. So tomorrow ill be adding more soil then waiting a couple day to make sure my plant doesnt get shocked then i will be doing LST.

So today i added more soil to the plant (different kind of soil with a lot of pearl lite) and when i did it, i ripped some of the roots (i didnt realize they grew down as far as they did) but it wasnt too much in comparison to how much it had. Anyways, i added more soil in preperation for LST next week. I expected my plant to probably go into shock and sure enough it is.

Can anyone help me diagnose and give me some advice as to what to do? Brown spot on one leaf (see picture) and the bottom leaves are all yellow and curled. PH is 6 (slightly lower than before) and i watered it a little after i transplanted it. what can i do? thanks

extra pics of the leaf in question. Cant be a nute burn cuz the soil didnt have nutrients in it. and the rest of the leaf is fine and all the other top leaves are fine. any ideas?

BLACK DOTS ON LEAVES ARE DIRT FROM TRANSPLANTING

everything will be fine bro.. no worries :)

first your girl will definatly be a little shocked... any root trauma will shock a plant bad.. and the roots will basically fill whatever sized container they are in.. MJ loves spreading her roots out.. if you have, or can get ahold of, some thrive alive or the equilvalent of it that would be great.. use it every time you water.. it will benefit your girls a lot.. especially if it gets warm still... it will help limit the shock first and formost.. but it will also help your girl absorb and utilize nutes better... there are some other things it will do too.. but these are the main things right now... it'll be hugely beneficial for you...

2nd thing is, i know you picked out the time released nitrogen, and didnt get it all... but... nitrogen is a very mobile nute... it is rapidly used and absorbed during veg growth.. so my guess is you really do need more.. after looking at it... it looks like a simple nitrogen deficiency.. i would introduce nutes to your watering schedule.. start out with a 1/4 strength dose... should clear the yellowing right up..

ahh thanks sampson, your always such a help. sry i cant +rep you anymore ha.

Heres some updated pics of the spot in question which has gotten darker. everything else still looks good. there are 2 tiny spots on the same leaf coming up (one is at the bottom right of the 2nd picture and the other is further down the same leaf) but other than that same as last night

hey no prob.. always glad to help... biggest thing to remember is not every leaf will stay perfect.. so unless "it" seems to be spreading, or "it" is stunting growth then its prolly not much to worry about.. there are some exceptions to that tho.. its not 100% true all the time...

but im almost positive a little bit of veg nutes are all your girl needs and the spots should clear right up.. do you know the soils ph by chance??

Plant doesnt look much different today. Spot is now brown as opposed to yellow and on the tip of the leaf and a little down the vein theres some yellow/brown showing up. rest of the canopy is fine. Bottom leaves crisp and yellow. thinking about cutting off the completely crisp yellow tips and leave the part thats still alive, any thoughts?Soil is 6 at the very bottom and 6.9 at the top

also AND MOST IMPORTANT i just got some nutes from a buddy and i wanna start (we are sure this is nute DEFIENCY, right?). Its by miracle grow 24-8-16. How often should i feed my plant, when should i start, and how diluted should i make it the first time. Also, my moister is real high, should i water it now with nutes to drown the ph a little and introduce nitrogen? Thanks :)

the yellowing i am almost 110% sure is from a nitrogen def... i dont recommend using miracle grow to anyone.. but it can be used... i would start out at a 1/4 strength application... and i dont think i'd ever go much more past 1/2 strength... you should use this every other time you feed from here on out... i wouldnt feed any now.. its not that detrimental to risk the chance of like root rot or something from overwatering...
the brown spot is (i think) due to chlorine in your water... are you watering with tap water?? if so you should leave it out over night before use.. this will evaporate all the chlorine out...

So all my leaves are now starting to get yellow/brown tips. Im done waiting on the soil to get dry so i watered her with 1/4 strength nutes. let yall know how she looks in the morning.

Good news is all this recent hoorah hasnt stunted her growth.

Heres a question, when should i start LST given its recent condition and root damage.?
