ok so this is pretty cool, got home from work and the seeds i put in a paper tower 2 days ago look like they are ready to start their new life

i placed the seeds in small cups of soil,
im assuming i water them now correct?

do i turn the fluroscent light on yet ( t5) or do i just let them sit in the dark until i see a sprout?

thanks!!

Yes, if you have holes in the bottom, water till it comes out. But try not to let them sit in a tray filled with water (if you have a tray underneath them) or else they will become too wet. Common mistake, overwatering. Good luck!

If you are growing in soil you HAVE to have holes on the bottom
If your pots doesn't have any drain holes make some right away

well they are jiffy pots so they are made out of coconuts fibers or something similiar to that. i watered them.. the water leaked out of the bottom. the pots dont have holes.. they are just made of a porous material that the roots can eventually grow through.

i have the pots sitting on trays that elevat them a couple millemeters from the rest of the tray so the excess water can sit beneath the pot.

thanks again!

They are made of peat moss and wood pulp, no coco fiber

cool..thanks for the schooling!

i guest everything is going well so far. this is fun. one question about the lighting.

i have a 6lamp t5ho fixture. currently i only have installed 2 of the bulbs.

there are 3 plants sitting under the light right now, and i hope to add 3 more tomorrow after the rest of them pop out a root. is this good? should i add a bulb, or take one out or what? thanksb:blsmoke:

I would have three on right now and as they develop a new node add a bulb
Make sure to keep that light close to the tops without burning though

smart move using less bulbs to start. in 7-10 days up-pot them into whatever you are gonna use. thats when I'd give them full light. remember most strains at least double in height from the day you switch over to 12/12 til they finish. besides over water-ing, vegging too long is the most common 1st timer mistake. good luck!

thanks for the advice. i actually plan for them to veg for about 8 weeks. that is starting from today, the day the seed was planted until i move them to 12/12.

reason is, i am vegging in my bedroom and i plan to flower them in my 2nd bedroom, but for now i have a foreign exchange student living with me. he leaves back to europe on december 10th. so i have to veg them until that date. then on the 11th i'll set up the HPS and crank it out. how does that sounds?
