I was wondering if this is normal. I'm about 5-6 weeks into flowering, and I water/feed (organic) every 3 days. The last couple times I watered, I had quite a bit of extra runoff using the same amount of water that I always use with very minimal runoff. Do plants start taking in less water at a certain point? Should I stop the nutrients now? The buds are still full of white hairs and need to swell up quite a bit more it seems but they have quite a bit of trichomes.
1st grow, plants not taking as much water in flowering?

I found this problem recently. I just used a nail and poked holes in the soil. the soil became hard and the water would just go strait between the soil and the pot. watered today and didn't have the same prob.
if your plants cycle is 8 weeks flower then yes start your wash cycle at 6 weeks. the grow shops sell washes that the only benifit is half the wash time.(or so the employee said)

as the plants get into flower the soil becomes compacted from being watered so much. When it dries up it receeds from the sides of the pot and when you water it runs down the sides and out the pot. Water slowly right where the main stalk goes into the soil and work your way out towards the edges. Press the dirt around the edges down then water normally starting from the middle outwards. I have this same problem and this has helped me make sure the whole pot of soil gets water instead of just the edges.
The thing is I know by now how light my pots should feel when they need watering (I'm in smart pots btw) and they are still remaining fairly heavy on watering day when before they would be super light. So the soil is retaining water, telling me that the plants aren't transpiring as much.

that is what I do. I thought I would be on a schedual but the girls changed my mind.
