Hello Everyone,
I have been wanting to grow for some time now and had been reading about growing on overgrow until it shut down, was bummed out until I stumbled upon this message board which rekindled my old interest to grow. So I finally decided to start my first grow and would like to do the best I can my first time around. Any advice or comments are welcome as I am full of questions and appreciate any help.

Currently I am on my 3rd week since germinating 5 feminized dutch passion blueberry seeds in solo cups filled w/happy frog soil, 4 seeds made it and for the first week I had them under 250w hps 18/6 until I realized my mistake and switched the lamps to 2-40w/48" florecent light and a 17w floro grow light 18/6. The roots were peeking through the drain holes on the cups so I transplanted them into larger pots 2 days ago. I sprayed them w/some dilutted superthrive solution and water them with 6.0-6.5ph water and temps run around 75-82* and 45-55% humidity. Below are pictures I took today, 2 of the seedlings leaves are curling inward, any idea why?

I plan on posting in this journal through out my girls plant life and will keep everyone updated on their progress. Thanks for stopping by!

My babies seem to continue growing very slowly even after my attempt to improve conditions by changing to floros and tranplanting w/superthrive. Am I being impatient or is there anything else I can do to speed things up. They are on the third week and look like their a couple of days old. Is it the strain or what?

i dont know much about growing but i would atleast try to give the babies some sunlight lol...
Really? Even if I am growing indoors and don't plan on switching to an outdoor grow? I put them outside at night once but it was sprinkling and I wanted the rain water the water them. But I didnt think I would have to put them out in sunlight :?

It has been a little over a week since my last post and my seedling (32 days old) have gone from bad to worst, they have not grown much and are starting to look yellow. Two of the four also have purplish shadows (pic 4) on large leafs and I dont think it has to do with the strain. The smallest plant larger leafs are drying/rotting up, I think its time to toss it out. One of them is doing well, still growing slow but looks healthy.

nongreen- I am sure your journal will be informative to me since we are growing the same strain, I will continue to read it and learn from your grow. Did you run into any similar problems, any suggestions?

johnnyb- your words give me hope to be patient with these girls, I have decided to germinate a couple of more seeds, hopefully they will do better and catch up to my girlies. I planted the seed directly in soil last time, should I germinate using a papertowel this time? Or whats the best way to start them off as I did horribly bad the first time ;).

Below are new pics that I took this morning, havnt changed much yet.

Yes, the beginning of their lives is important. Paper towels kept moist,
dark, and WARM...I wouldn't think wet cold soil would stimulate growth
so much. I made the same mistake with rock wool my first time.

Sorry to hear about your other girls...what are you feeding them?

What soil are you using what nutrients if any, your plants just look deficient in nutrient.
I started them off with happy frog soil, then after a little over 3 weeks, I transplanted them into larger pots and I fed them diluted pure blend pro grow 3-1.5-4 w/ a drop of superthrive and a few days after they started turning a yellowish color and since then I never fed them w/nutes again since I thought it could have been nute burn or shock due to transplant. It has been over 10 days since then, do you think its safe to feed them w/nutes today when I water them?

johnnyb- I think I will go with the paper towel method this time, it is possible that the natural way to grow a seed in soil has failed me (could also be due to several other factors). Do you think I should just use regular water, or should I add a drop of superthrive during germing? Ahh, I hope I do better this time around, I didnt think my first attempt would go so bad.

Also, below is a pic from today, I discovered a spot on the leaf, this is what had originally happened to my baby that dried out, any advice as to what I can do to prevent it from spreading or drying out my leaf. Any idea what caused the spot?

what is the temp when lights are off? how about when on? also is your soil draining quickly? if the soil stays wet for longer than a week without watering you might need to mix more perlite. heavy soil will slow growth so will colder temps.

Hi people,
Could you fellas possible help me out a little on my blueberry grow, Im able to germinate just fine but when Ive placed them in 1" rockwool (temp at a constant 30C, humidity at approx 90%) they seem to grow mould around the seed and die on the 3rd day. This has happened 4 times consecutively & now I have 2 seeds remaining Ive even tried using H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) to prevent pathogen growth but Ive had no luck.

Please could you help me out?

DUDE U R LOVIN EM TO DEATH STOP WITH THE FERTILIZER, MAKE SURE UR SOIL IS NOT HARD FOR THE ROOTS TO SPREAD, DONT OVER WATER, THAT WILL KILL EM. lOOKS LIKE U NEED A 10 DOLLAR WALMART GROW LIGHT WITH A 7800K COLOR SPECTRUM TO HELP. U NEED LOW NOT HIGH HUMIDITY AND A FAN FOR AIR CIRCULATION. IF U R GROWIN IN SOIL DONT USE ROCK WOOL. JUST STICK UR SEED AN INCH IN THE GROUND AND LIGHTLY COVER. REMEMBER THE 1ST 2 WEEKS NO FERT UNLESS U R USING SOMETHING LIKE MIRACLE GRO POTTING MIX. WHICH IS ALREADY FERTILIZED BUT WILL NOT KILL THE PLANT.

You are likely introducing the bacteria through contact , the water or the container...

Wash your hands, use distilled water maybe and sterilise the containers first... work in a clean area...

You could try and use some meth blue from the petshop in the water... its used to medicate fish fungus and usefull to keep fish eggs from getting bacteria in the tank, so it won't be a problem...

Could be because u r 2 close to the light and r burning the leaves. Dont give any fert they r too young. Dont overwater. Top 2 to 3 inches of soil should be bone dry before adding any water.
