So I just got a clone. Its about.. 6-8 inches tall. I currently have it in a little grow closet with a regular light over it. I got the light(on 24/7) at lowes, its not a hps or MH, just a plain lightbulb, produces a good amount of heat and gives off a good amount of lumens, but I'm planning on getting HPS soon. I'm using miracle grow soil and I also have a fan blowing near the clone. I put it in a 3 gallon pot.

Any and all help is appreciated, please and thank you.

the good news and the bad news.

good news - you've got a healthy plant growing there.

bad news - it won;t stay that way unless you make a couple of changes.

first, soil. miracle grow soil usually contains fertilizer (check the bag) making it difficult to know when and how much additional fertilizer to use. also, its best to mix potting soil with 25% perlite to improve drainage. all in all, i would repot with different soil and perlite.

second, light. as you noted, you'll want to add more light soon. an hps is a good choice.

just when you decide to add an HPS, just remember to keep it cool, cause they can get really hot.

Update.

I now have a 250 watt ballast along with a 250 watt HPS Bulb. I'm going to be keeping the light on at 18/6.

When should I begin to add nutes?

alright so 2 weeks from now?

Is there a difference if you use half strength of a 10-5-8 Nute formula or half strength of a 3-1-1 Nute formula?

Absolutely.... You have to be sure that you're using the correct nutes for the particular life cycle that your plants are in. The three number combination tells you the concentration of specific nutes which are applicable during the life of the plant. Hope this didn't sound redundant.

Ya Ive got a fan blowing on it and to keep it from getting to hot.

Whens a good time to add nutes if I've started with a clone?

So the HPS light burnt the plant a little bit on the top leaves and on the side. Would it be better to remove the burnt leaves or keep them on?

I read one some one elses grow journal on here. Where some one was saying, alot of people dont add nutes at all till around the 4th or 5th week. Just some more input for ya.

Anyone have any input on how to reduce heat in my grow room and what I should do about my partially burnt/curled plant leaves?

i cant really tell from your pic. but what kind of reflector or whatever is your hps in? Because you can get a vent fan that goes over the well vent, and it reduces the heat alot better than just a fan in there. not that, your fan does not help some.
