1st grow, CFL, 12/12 from seed, bagseed....I have questions....(pics)

This is my first grow. I am doing 12/12 from seed using CFL's. Bagseed. I have 6 plants that are all in different stages of flowering. I also have seedlings that just sprouted. (I bought some seeds from The Single Seed Centre and so far not really impressed, but we'll see how all goes.)

Of the 6 that are flowering, 2 are about 47 days old, 2 are 41 days old (red cups), and the other 2 (in green pots) are somewhere in between, from the day they sprouted. I have read ALOT about growing and decided to try 12/12 from seed. The seedlings that I have now are going 18/6 for about 2-3 weeks or so before going to 12/12.

I use Fox Farm nutrients, about 1/4-1/2 strength. Also have Superthrive. The soil is Vigoro Organic Potting soil from the Home Depot. I bake all soil prior to using it to kill any unwanted bacteria, bugs, etc.

This is my first grow so I would appreciate ANY constructive criticism and feedback. Also, I have no idea how much longer these plants have to go before harvest, so if anyone has any insight, please let me know!

Let me know what you think,

Thanks!

Those look gorgeous, go buy a cheap microscope from a headshop.

Mine was twenty dollars or so. If you're having trouble seeing the trichromes on the bud itself to determine if they are the proper colour then try taking one of the sugar leaves and look at that.

Another way is to wait until the majority of the hairs turn red and the pistils recede but that takes a good eye from what I hear.

In flowering tent I have about 14 23watt cfls (equivalent to 100w) both daylight and soft white mixed, and 1 65 w (300 w equiv) soft white. My seedlings are under a shop light (2 fluorescent tubes), daylight, 32 watts/2750 lumens each tube.

Thank you! I do have a few microscopes. One is 30x and the other is 45x. I can see the trichomes but since I am new at this, I am not too sure how to judge when they will be ready. To me the trichomes look a bit cloudy, but I am not sure... they have not been flowering very long...the oldest is 47 days from sprout, and that is 12/12 from seed. I figure I still have a few weeks to go??...but I am really not sure.

Another question....

I started with some bagseeds and those are the plants that are flowering now...so a few weeks ago I bought seeds from the SIngle Seed Centre. I bought quite a few seeds and started out germinating 6 of them. All 6 of the seeds germinated with no problems, however, once they sprouted and grew about 2-3 inches, they just stopped growing, ALL 6 OF THEM! I let them sit there for almost 4 weeks and they did not grow at all! They did not fall over and die, they did nothing! after 4 weeks I tossed them, which was really painful. I noticed that some of them had crazy long roots, no root rot. So I am wondering why this happened. A few days ago I germinated 5 more seeds. One germed and almost sprouted, but never stood up all the way, and looked like it had only one leaf instead of two. the second one broke soil and that was it! I still have 3 them growing; they sprouted and are looking good so far. My question is why is this happening? I paid a lot of money to get good feminised seeds and they are no good! I also noticed that most of the seeds were rather light in color, no stripes, nothing. Could they be immature seeds? Bad seeds? If regular bag seeds are doing good, but not the good seeds, it must not be something that I am doing, right??

hey mate, judging from your close ups i would say they are maybe 75-80% cloudy with the rest being clear. youve prob got a couple of weeks left yet. they are looking good though.

also, i had a greenhouse seeds lemon skunk that was light in colour with no stripes.. it germed and grew for about 3-4 weeks then just stopped. looked a bit thin/scraggly too. I put it down to the seed being immature and next time I will know to send that fucker back instead of wasting a month of pot space!

Thank you for the input! I thought I may still have a few weeks, but was not sure... how long does it usually take for the trichomes to change from cloudy to amber??

And yes that sucks with the seeds!! all the time and money that gets wasted!!!

Lol, no no male! The ones in the red cups I decided to experiment with a bit...the shorter one is topped, and the tall one is "lollipopped", kinda;-). They are the same age tho, just about anyway!
