1st Grow and Trippin Out

Ok so I'm overly paranoid about my seedlings. I had 16 seeds, 10 out of 16 have showed taproot, but I placed them all in soil yesterday. Their in jiffy pots with fox farm soil and 25% perlite. I placed them in a tray with a lid to keep the humidity up. Right now their at 75 degrees and 80% humidity. The soil is moist/wet and I planted them at 4pm yesterday. I'm freakin out though that my soil might be too wet... How long does it take for them to sprout? And how wet should the soil be??? Oh I have them on a Walgreens heating pad as well to keep the temp at 75.

Not very wet mate, they can take anything to ten days to sporout or maybe longer if the conditions arent right. Probably by the time its dried out u should have some sprouts. That is if they didnt go mouldy with too much wet, ive lost a few seeds that way. Good luck with ur grow mate ;)

Take the humidity dome off. They don't need it and you could encourage damping off and they'll die. Plus, if you soil is too wet, which you suspect, the dome will prevent it from drying out at all. Good luck man.:leaf:

9 seeds have popped out of the soil now! :) I'm waiting on 7 more at the moment. I know for sure 3 more are going to pop up within the next 24 hours. I have two more questions now though. Should I keep the humidity dome on or off now that some have sprouted out of the soil? Most people say pull it off but I still have 7 jiffy pots in there waiting to sprout some seeds. The other question is, should I turn the heating pad off now or keep it running? Just like the dome, most would say turn it off but I still have the others... what do you guys think?

haha really?? They all sprouted fine except for my free seeds but even 3 out of 5 sprouted. Any reason why they would kill your seedlings?

I just took some pics of them and it seems like their strecthing a decent amount. I still have them on the heating pad.. so I don't know if thats why. Their probably about... 10 inches from the light.

Let me know what you guys think I'm doing wrong, or maybe thats just what they do.

If those are fluoros you should position the light closer so that they dont have to stretch out to find the light.

K thanks. I just moved them to about 1-2 inches from the light. Unfortunatly I didn't find this out till Day 5 but I doubt that will affect my plants too bad. Especially if I just burry them a little deeper when I transplant.

When should I toss them in the room with the 400w MH??

Well yeah but I was asking whether you were saying to place the fluoros closer or to throw them under the 400 instead of the fluoros.

I've been waiting on getting one more plank of wood to finish the door for my grow room. I'm getting that today and finishing the build.

So, I'll probably keep them under the fluoros till tomorrow morning when the lights turn back on. They'll wake up to a lot more light

move light about 5 inches closer.looks like a cfl lighting correct? should be fairly close or else your sprouts are going to end up to tall and to leggy.
