Hey all,

Due to the all the crazyiness going on I bought a 4x4x8 grow tent and a bunch of seeds in case I needed to grow my own food indoors. And while I was at it I decided to try growing cannabis as my 1st crop. I started out with 3 plants.

I named them Trina, Sofia & Patty. Trina & Patty sprouted quickly and nicely so I planted them. Sofia took an extra day but did sprout so I planted her too. But her shell didnt come off and when I tried to pull it off i uprooted her, replanted then the next day i hit her with a deluge of water knocking her over, I propped her up with a mound of dirt and hoped for the best.

Trina & Patty were growing nicely, Sofia was 50% slower but hanging in there. I had the PH wrong for my soil. I was using the soiless range 5.5-6.5PH. Each time Id try to feed them they would turn yellow (twice).

About a week or two after I switched them over to flower Patty turned out to be a boy so she went to a nice land fill.

I tried to feed Trina & Sofia week 2 into flower and omg i burnt the shit outta them. The water PH I used for that feed was 5.5. I thought for sure I had killed them.

I read up and changed the PH to 7 for the next week. They responded with changing their leave color from yellow back to green.

Im now watering them daily about a gallon each (5ga fab pots) and they are looking great considering what I've put them through.

I think im going to harvest in the next week or two, what do you guys think?

Heres some pics of Sofia

Heres Trina

They look great!
Ever thought of using a training technique to fill that space up?
LST, scrog, fim or topping would go a long way to improving your lights effectiveness. Bigger yields, too. Congrats!

Most noticeable on picture #6 it's pinky purple on one side and green on the other, very nice.
As above training/screening etc goes a long way to get the most from it in future.
Well done on your 1st crop! How does it feel :-)

Congratulations on your grow! If you decide not to train, you could always veg longer and grow trees.

Thanks man!
I plan on starting the new year with six new seeds (autos) & will try to gently train them (pulling them to the side of the pot and around it) and maybe topping.

Does the pink/purple mean the plant is happy, I hope so!
I will attempt some gentle training & some topping with the next grow for sure.
Thanks! Ya, its weird how they turned into my plant children. Feels rewarding for sure.

Bet it feels pretty high in a few weeks :)
:)

your doing way better then most. cheers
Thanks, I wasnt sure what to expect for feedback. Im stoaked to see the positive posts.

I just spent some time reading up on feeding nutes to soil grows. Each time I'd try feeding my plants nutes their leaves would turn yellow starting at the base and working up. I thought the nutes were burning them, so I cut it back to 1.5ml per bottle of fertilizer and some calmag and still the leaves would go yellow.

Luckily I saved the left over nutes in a 2 liter bottle from that last feed and just tested it with my TDS meter and it read 600ppm. I also tested my tap water which is 95ppm. I then tested my Pur filtered water and it read 75ppm. Ok so all thats in the green right, so it wasnt the nutes but my PH which I know on that last feed was 5.5 & it was under 6PH for the previous feeds, that must of been why it was turning yellow. Also I just started watering enough to see run off and the water is slightly green.

I'm going to try feeding my plants tomorrow. On the side of the General Hydroponics bottles it reads for bloom:
FloraGrow 5ml
FloraMicro 10ml
FloraBloom 15ml

But those numbers are for hydro or soilless grows right so I should cut them in half for my soil and or measure the PPM of the water making sure it doesnt go over 1100ppm right?

My soil medium I thought was Fox Farms but after looking up my purchase on amazon i see that it was Roots Organics soil.

Which is listed as being:
  • Ready-to-use coco fiber-based potting soil
  • Highest quality coco fiber/coir on the planet which is repeatedly washed for an incredibly low EC
  • Organic ingredients including bat guano, Premium earth worm castings, fish bone meal, feather meal, Green Sand, mycorrihzae, Glacial rock Dust, soybean meal, humic acid

Wish me luck!

I tested the tap water before adding the nutes and it was 7.80ph @ 100ppm.
added 2ml calmag, 1ml micro, 1ml grow & 4ml bloom to a gallon of water. Rechecked PH and it read 6.77
I then poured that into my watering container that had about half a gallon of water left over from yesterday that had a 6.54ph
Fed the plants 8hrs ago and they seem ok, no visable change.
I'll double the amount tomorrow and see if the leaves get any greener.

heres some pics of sofia (think she has some issues)

and trina (she seems fine)

Oh about 3 weeks ago the soil level was so low I could see white roots. I went to Ace hardware and bought a bag of heavy wet soil that had gnats flying around it for $5. Poured that on top of my plants, shooed away the gnats and I havent really seen them until I took these pictures and turned off the fan, one zoomed past my face. lol

Of all the pests to catch. I’d take soil gnats over any. The larvae could be in there getting ready to emerge. Get down close. Smack your pots, agitate the surface, anything to create movement and look for them crawling on your surface. If you do have an outbreak I like to use Microbe-lift. Works for mosquitos too.

Will do. I did pick up some neem oil and after mixing it with some dishsoap treated sofia. I didnt know what the mixture would do so I only treated her. I'll whip up another batch and treat them both.

Thanks
My notes below
8/13/20 -floated seeds x2 AK47 autos x2 Green Crack photos (1 slow, 1 didnt sprout)
-AK47 (sofia) in on the right side, Green Crack (trina) on the left is my best guess. Didnt mark the paper towel.
8/15/20 -planted the sprouts
8/20/20 -plants 4"
10/22/20 -switched from 18/6 to 12/12hr light
11/13/20 - tossed the male plant, the seed sacks were obvious.
11/25/20 - Trichomes are milky, amber hairs, white hairs are going away for trina. sofia has been lagging behind since sproutling

The latest I can wait is Dec 11th. I need to break down the tent and pack it away until the new year.

'yawn', just woke up. 1st thing I did was check on the plants, well after I turned on the coffee maker.
They dont look stressed, leaves look the same as the day before which is awesome. I've learned how to feed my plants without killing them. Huge relief.

Fed them some nutes again upping the amount to:
1ml Gro
5ml Micro
8ml Bloom
tested water after stirring: 620ppm @ 6.54ph, 60°F (tap water tested 77ppm @ 7.77ph at start)

The run off is pooled up on the tent floor. Im guessing I should mop this up right or can I leave it for added humidity?

Looking good for a first grow. Are you going to do a sequential harvest? Take the main colas and lower the lights to get the lowers to bulk up a bit?

Ya so my memory is shot. I just looked up my purchase order from a year ago and I didnt buy autos or ak47.
I counted my seeds and am missing 2 Green Crack fem & 2 Thai Stick. So that makes Sofia thai stick.
