1st grow, 22 days flowering (pics)

well, this is my first grow attempt.

i've learned a lot since i started mostly thanks to this site and just trial and error.

started with 6 plants, added a few along the way... ended up with 1 confirmed bagseed female and a sour diesel that looks to be a male (fuck!) i also have an immature bagseed plant i just threw in there that is on 12/12 but probably a few weeks away from showing sex.

anyways here's the setup:
mg organic soil
schultz 10-15-10 nutes
150w hps & 2x45w 2700k cfl's
dresser 36x16x52in.

the first pics are all the same plant my only confirmed female... (of the plants that survived) and the last pic is what appear to be nuts on my sour diesel. how does she look for 3 weeks flowering? i've had some heat issues that i'm addressing (temps get into high 80's, no obvious heat stress but i feel like it's behind where it should be at 3 weeks)

another question, should i trim the lower vegetation (a la lollipopping?) or just let it bud out?

is the sour diesel def male? i'm pretty sure it is but i just don't want to believe it.

heat is my issue right now but i'm getting some new ventilation equipment next week so it will be corrected.

Hmm, heat is always a major concern.. you should try to keep it at least 76 degrees or cooler in that room.. it looks like maybe you could lower the light source just a bit because those plants look very tall, they are stretching for the light. There is not a terrible number of leaves on the plants so I wouldn't worry about trimming the lower vegitation.. I would say that you can only be sure about the male in maybe another week or two.. sometimes the females develop the seed/pod sacks earlier than their hairs (but rare).. plants look very green and healthy though.. good luck!

anyone else have any opinion on whether or not that's a male?

and yeah they are stretched for sure! it's hard to keep the lights close b/c of heat issues. DAMN IT. it's just hard to be stealthy and keep everything cool with an hps in there.

they didn't always look that healthy, actually i removed a lot of foliage which is why it looks kind of bare and there's all that new undergrowth, just a lot of heat damaged/nute burned leaves that were just bringing the plant down and more harm than help... live and learn right?

IMHO, yes it's a male. But on a better note, some HPS's come with a piece of tempered glass for their light hood. It will cut down on the heat. Or if you got a blower system for your lights, will reduce the heat alowing you to lower them down a little more. Rule of thumb: put your hand at the top of your plant, If you can leave it there comfortably then your plant will be comfortable. Or you can just put a fan down low pointed up at your light. This will also keep the lights from scorching your plants. Just make sure the top of your plants are moving with the fan. You'll be good to go.

i've found that "rule of thumb" to be completely false i can put my hand like 1" from the light and be completely comfortable... but if my plant gets within 8-10" leaves start to curl.

Dude, you put your hand there for a few seconds. Your plants are there all the time. Find a happy medium.

check her out now...

she still seems behind in yield and trichome production, it is dirt brown bagseed though so who knows how frosty it will get.

also having an issue with leaves yellowing/dying off rapidly...

growing in MG organic soil, using full strength 10-15-10 with every other watering, leaves turn yellow (chlorotic) and turn up... i've already lost two sets of big fan leaves and some undergrowth this way, leaves in close proximity to buds seem to be doing fine so i dont know if this is a problem.

just performed a flush followed by 150% strength nutes to address low N?

smaller plant has been flowering for about 3 weeks now... just started showing pistils last week. it has been losing lower leaves as well.

the baby plant is papaver somniferum:grin:

Might just be a bad strain but it seems like it was a little young to start flowering. I read that if you try flowering before the plant is sexually mature it will take a really long time.
Ive heard a lot of people say nitrogen deficiency is why the fan leave turn yellow during flowering. It might be nute lock from overdoing some of the other nuts
Either way you are getting some bud outta that bitch :^P
