alright boys and girls, this is my first grow, from seed. the two plants going were actually clones that I got a couple months back. they have been through hell and back. when I first got them, I simply stuck them in a corner with ONE SINGLE RED spectrum cfl. wow. two weeks deep they were looking like death. then I smartened up and starting reading up on here. let me tell you this, this site is amazing. great people with countless years of knowledge. I definitely put in some studying time, reading people's grow logs from start to finish roughly putting in 2 to 3 hours easily a night on this site. after learning, i bought two 100w equivalent blue spectrum lights, and let them deal with that for a couple weeks. they definitely revived. they were at the point of being tossed out because they were so fucked. not to mention i was watering them THREE TIMES A DAY!!! idiot. so yeah, brought those back to life. to my surprise, they came back super healthy, and actually had their pre-flowers maybe 2 weeks ago. they are both beautiful females with many hairs showing up everywhere. anyways, enough of the ranting of how dumb i was. the present and future are what matter now!
the grow box dimensions are 4ftx3.3ftx2ft. i painted the inside flat white, and used panda plastic to make the door and rear panel. i also laid down what i had left over which ended up being the perfect size for the floor.
ventilation:
the room is fed with fresh air by a 9 inch box fan that I installed into the lower side panel. the vent hole has been cut to fit a 4" duct on the opposing upper panel. i am short of funds at this very minute, but that will change soon. i am going to buy and install a 4 inch can fan to vent the room and it will be attached to an activated charcoal filter to eliminate odor. at this very moment, i am using an ONA odor neutralizing gel system. it is doing very well actually, but will prob not be able to handle the odor during flowering. there is also a small 6 inch fan mounted in the corner blowing down on the plants. a 5 gallon water barrel mixed with sugar, yeast, and water is providing co2
lighting:
I am currently using 8 100w equivalent 6500k cfl's and two 2ft 24w fluros. I have a 400w hps for flowering, and as soon as money permits, will be buying a 400w mh conversion bulb and will ditch all the fluros and be running that. the lights are on an 18/6 system, but I think I am going to switch it over to 24 till those seeds sprout.
strains:
the two clones are supposed to be white widow, but I am not exactly sure. the 8 planted seeds are a mix of bubba kush and agent orange. not sure which are which, so we will just have to see.
germinating:
at first I used the paper towel method. within two days, one of the 8 seeds germinated, and a day or so after, so did another. 3 or 4 days deep, none of the others had germinated. I filled a glass with water and dropped them in. they all sunk to the bottom, so I assumed that they were ready to be planted, so i did. (and this was yesterday)
soil and potting:
the soil is Fox Farms Ocean Forest. The clones are in 2 gallon pots, the two seedlings in the middle are in 5 gallon grow bags that were cut to about 3.5 gallons, and the 6 seedlings on the right are in 1 gallon grow bags.
feeding:
the plants are fed every other day with distilled water. they get nutes with every other watering. I am using the Fox Farm trio (Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom)
temperature:
right now I have some janky thermometer, but will be upgrading to a digital one that reads the humidity as well as soon as money permits. the current temps are 80 with the lights on, and about 75 with them off.
so this is where I am at right now. I hope you guys take interest into my grow and subscribe to it as well. I really appreciate support from fellow RIU members and insight as well!
