drill holes towards the top of res and attach 3 or four zip-ties to it and the lid, just a thought.

or maybe just two on one end like a hinge, then wire for the other attach holes so you can still access res. let us know what u decide on. :eyesmoke:

So finally the seeds are in the dwc , I used 1 liter pots and drilled holes in them to make netpots. Just a few cfls for now.My medium is river pebbles.ph seemed perfect altho I dont have a meter as of now.I topped fed the medium with poland spring water.the water in the rez is about 1 inch from pots.around 25 gallons . I fed grow big around 20 ml. Let the games begin.

Edit: 2 30 gallon air pump ,10 & 8 inch air stone

Day 4

obvious new growth but other then that nothing significant. roots still havnt reached the water yet.but new growth means its on its way . i have been misting few times a day. ph looks the same orange/yellow. somewhere between 5.5 & 6.

i do have a quetion if some one can kindly help me. i know im suppose to change res every 7-10 days. but its been 4 and roots havnt hit the water which should mean they havnt used any of the nutes yet ,correct? nothing should be fluctuating ,correct20151022_141658.jpg 20151022_141730.jpg 20151022_141646.jpg 20151022_141658.jpg

Day 6

I'm having troubles figuring out what the problem is. Ph is the same between 5.5 and 6. Roots haven't hit the water yet and the critical kush looks sad as shit. Weird light green on tips of leaves. Any idea what I can do anybody? Any more info needed let me know thank you

Hey, I seen your original post. I know a lot of people don't transfer directly to DWC bin right after the seedling has sprouted. You can, however, transfer it, and top water. I know this from experience. I tried to do the same as you, I didn't top water either. I made sure though, that the bubbles popping would hit the hydro-rocks right below the rockwool. It is important that you don't have the water directly touching the rockwool. Anyways, I noticed you sprayed your plant directly with water. I always thought that was a no no. I sprayed the hydrorocks around the plant and rock wool, but never the seedling itself.

In summary, I stunned my plant for a good week by trying to transfer to DWC to early. If you are unsure when to transplant, wait until you have some roots growing out of the rockwool, than you can transfer. I'd still recommend that you top water (not the plant directly) until the roots grow into your res. Hope this helps!

thanks for the input man
yea i thought letting the bubbles hit the bottom of the net was enough, but i think you are right the roots must be dehydrated.i just top watered it , lets see if it springs back up.
also do you know why the tips are changing color?? is that caused by underwatering as well ? i though leaves just get droopy

Are you currently feeding nutrients? I started feeding to early and burnt the tips. I didn't add nutes until the tyclodones (spelling) were nearly dead. For my strain, it was about three weeks from seed. So nothing but ph'd water. Trust me, nutes aren't needed this early.

hey pecker.
i think transplanting to soil right now would stunt it even more and just slow down the proccess even more.i would probably have to wait 2 months befor i can take some cuttings. i think its worth the experience to fight its way to a healthy plant. i have faith in this dwc system.
I would pop it into some soil and save the dwc for clones. Never put all your eggs in one basket.

i did put nutrients but very minimum. the tote i about 25 gallons of water . i only added 20 ml of foxfarm grow big.thats less then a ml per gallon. the instructions i think say use 2 teaspooon. thats just crazy i think. but anyways the roots didnt pop out the netpots yet. however the seedlings are in jiffy pellets. and i was spraying it with poland spring water.
you think i should dump the res and only use just water?? i thought since it is in dwc and not soil there is 0 nutrients in the water and it was necessary to supplement it??

thankss

what you need to do is dip a cup into the water nute mix, then pour it on the jiffy peat pot rock mix you put them in. do this several times a day. as they get bigger and the roots hit the water, you can stop pouring. you should get a ppm meter and use about 750 ppm right now as they are small. as they grow you can increase that number to about 1100.
