[1st Attempt] Operation Miracle Kush [ Stealth Closet Grow W/Pics]

Hello Everyone.


Figured I mine as well post my progress so far and hopefully I can get some advice as I go.
I found a couple seeds from a really dank batch of 'Holy Grail Kush' and I decided to try to germ one, Sure enough a couple days later I could see the root!
The bud was phenomenal, Some of the most tasty smoke in a while, and I live in BC.

Did a bit of research and planted it in an old aquarium (lol) filled the bottom with rocks and then headed to the manure pile in the back yard.
I baked the soil at 425 for 30 minutes to kill any bugs or other unwanted yuckies and cooled the soil down and added humidity back, In went the seed after it was a nice temperature and a 11 wat CFL was placed over top.
I then saturated the soil and left it do it's thing while watering it every 4 hours or so.


The following materials have been purchased / found around the house.


Holy Grail Kush seed - Free with an oz
4 23 watt mini twister CFL's - $20.00
2 11 watt mini twister CFL's - $10.00
2 two hole power cords - Free
1 100watt single bulb cable - free
6 hole power outlet - $ 5.00
1 Six Inch fan - $ 8.00
3 Screw-In hangers lined with rubber for non-slip -$2.00
Gift wrap for reflector - Free
Old plastic aquarium - Free
Compost -Free
Water Bottle - Free
Shot glass for humidity control - Free
Miracle Grow All Purpose - Free
The most annoying packing tape on earth - free
Old pillow sheets/bedsheets - free








4 days later, A little green sprout was starting to emerge, One more 11 watt CFL was added and has been watered every 8 hours (probably too much?)


We're on day 5 now as we speak and much as been changed to the plants environment. I have added four 23 watt cfl's as well as one 11 watt hanging in between for extra juice, A 6' clamp fan has been purchased to increase
ventilation and has caused the lights to only feel 'warm' to the touch opposed to hot. Tin foil has since been removed and white paint or glossy paper will be added to the area. I plan on using MIRACLE GROW, yes you heard me right, In about 10 days or so for added nutes. It seems to be growing towards the lights at a weird angel, Should I be concerned?







Some things you should know,


I'm totally strapped for cash, So I'm getting by with the bare minimal.


Any help is welcome, I have a basic idea of what to do but would love any suggestions.

make sure you get a moisture meter cuz it seems you are over watering but nice start so far

I haven't watered in about 10 hours, I'm thinking perhaps every 15-20? Maybe more, I keep seeing the suggestion of letting the first 1-2 inches of soil get somewhat dry before watering. Is this true?

Nope they are cheap like 9 bucks at lowes and it test ph light and moisture... i use a digital ph meter for my ph levels though and to your question yes i used the finger test by poking my finger in the soil and if the first few inches were dry then i would water you can check out my grow for some dos and donts hope this helps good luck with your grow ill keep an eye out for ya

I'm sorry if I missed it, but do you have any drainage in the tank? If not, that could be a serious issue with moulds.

Nope, Just rocks lined in the bottom.

The compost I'm using is quite airy, I'm not too worried about rotting as I have to water it quite often to keep it moist.
I also have no idea what I'm talking about so... Should I be concerned?

Not sure If I should really have this under stealth... In daytime lighting you would never be able to tell it's there but once it gets dark it's pretty obvious. Oh well

hey chib, nice little setup, water just once a week and or when the mj looks as though it needs it, no nutes for 3 weeks then 1/4 strength building up to 1/2 strength. extremely difficult not to fiddle though, we`ve all been there. hope I`ve been some help and you don't make the mistakes I made. good luck and happy growing

The watering thing is a little tricky, I woke up today and it appeared the first inch or of soil was dry so I added more moisture.. I'll see how it does without watering from now on till I think it needs it.

I added a shot glass full of water to corner of the setup to increase the humidity.

Lol like emann2010 said dont get to over excited about nutes and burn the hell outta them start slow and work your way up

Fingers crossed for a female... I have read that if you have got seeds from a really dank batch of weed that had minimal seeds (like I did) then chances are they were pollinated by a hermi resulting in a female more often than not.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I know a guy who purchased 1 1/2 ounces of this holy grail and didn't see a single seed, I had an ounce and found 3.

A little update.




I think she looks like she's doing pretty well. Is the sideways slant something to worry about?
Turned the pot around so It's facing the other direction to hopefully make it straight again.

hadn't watered in around 15 hours and the first inch or so was completely bone dry. I just watered again... I hope I'm not going overkill on this watering but I think If i left it overnight another inch would be dried or maybe even more.
I switched over to a water bottle opposed to spray bottle to get the job done quicker.

Don't worry about the slant, could be because she was stretching for the light. If you're really concerned, get a sterilized chopstick or a toothpick or a straw to hold her up, but i wouldn't worry about it.

She fixed herself this morning when I woke up. The soil wasn't nearly as dry as it was yesterday so I think the water bottle is the way to go.
I can see into the dirt from the sides of the aquarium and can judge the moisture levels so it makes things a bit easier I suppose.

Added a passive intake for increased air flow and moved the fan in a different spot.

More pics to come later, I'm going to do pictures every 24 hours or so to keep things more interesting.

Well things are coming along nicely.

She's growing quite rapidly over the last 24h and I think I'm figuring the watering out as she hasn't been watered since yesterday.

I've added a thermometer so I can check on the heat as I go along and swapped the shot glass for a water bottle.


I notice that my grow reaches 87 degrees, Should I be concerned? She seems pretty dam happy despite the hot temperatures... She's under 24-0 light as well for veg if anyone is wondering.


4th day of Veg state.

I did a bit of modifying and went out and bought another fan and cut a hole in the top of the cardboard used as the top and fashioned an outtake with my 6' fan.

Temperatures were getting too hot. Reaching 90 degrees, They are staying around 80 now. Fingers crossed.

The heat stays at 78-83 degrees now. Should be smooth sailing from here

She appears to be doing great. I will post a picture of her shortly here.

But first here is a picture of the outtake vent that I fashioned from the box in which my RooR came in, lol. Does anyone think I can put a carbon filter in there somehow? Me thinks so but I'd like to hear other peoples opinions.
