1st attempt at growing (Indoor/Rubbermaid)...

Hello Everyone,

So I am starting my first grow and wanted to share this experience with everyone. Currently I have one 18 gal Rubbermaid tub converted into a grow cab in my closet. I germinated 3 seeds for around 36hrs and two popped the 18th. I put them in 5x2 inch planters and they officially went into the 18/6 light cycle the 19th. One has sprouted well and the other sprouting but wearing a helmet lol.

Currently my soil is MG Micromax, and since I read so many negative reviews about MG I will probably pick up some different soil this weekend from a hydroponics store that I found online (15 min from me = winning!).

My lighting consist of 2x 26 watt CFL's and 2x 20 watt CFL's (6500k). I have a 2in passive intake in the bottm behind a 6in desk fan. My exhaust is actually a fan out of one of my wife's broken hair dryers, I wired it up and it works well for my space (temp at 72F).

I understand that I will need more lighting and space as things progress. I plan on getting another tub to add on to my current one, and I will definitely be using the LST method that I have read about on here. My seeds are bagseed from a decent bag I got. So it will be interesting to see if I get a female.

My only question at this point is what basic nutes should I purchase? I know I have a few weeks before I should introduce the plants to any nutes but I was going to pick some up this weekend from the hydro store. I am just looking for the basics, this being my first time I don't want to go all mad chemist on the plants lol.

Well thank you for reading and all advice/criticism is welcomed and encouraged. Take care and have a great day everyone.

If your in mg soil then your not gonna need food for a while, one reason people don't like mg is because of the time released food in it and it turns into a guessing game on when to start feeding them. I would say wait it out a couple of weeks before even thinking of adding food. If you hit them with food now it will do nothing but burn them and most likely kill them.. Good luck dude and congrats on deciding to grow your own

Well unfortunately my little operation did not go as planned. There was a power outage in my neighborhood for nearly 36 hours and my little plants started dying. I think I was over watering them to begin with and the power outage did not help. Then I noticed some electrical worker knocking on doors and I got paranoid lol. So long story short I dissembled my grow box and tossed out the half dead sprouts :( I guess it's over for awhile for me everyone, I may try again but I would order seeds this time.

Don't give up! I am doing the same thing for my grow, I used two rubbermaid tubs an emergency blankets, it's working great I am on my second week of flowering with some bag seed. I also decided to LST my plant.

Btw I was a electrician, most of them don't care if you are growing, atleat where I live, I came across a small grow in a teenage kids closet i worked around it, but his mom was pissed lol and atleast once a week I would get smoked up by someone :bigjoint: .

Well said :)

Peace out
