Day 1

I germd my seeds in a coffee filter and they all sprouted in under 24hrs. I then tossed them in
starter pots with Miracle Grow Potting Soil ( It is all I have available in my area )
All 4 broke soil in another 24hrs.

They are in a ghetto cabinet until my tent arrives on Monday.
I have them under a 1000w Mh for now until they start to show sex
then I will change over to a 1000w Hps.

My temps are a consistent 80f, so far so good.


Suggestions are appreciated and welcome.

I've used miracle grow soil before, and its not "great" by any means, but if you're new to the growing thing, don't do what I did and add nutrients too early. Wait until they show signs of deficiency before you add any nutes, IMO. Sounds like you have your lighting handled. Do you have an open reflector or an aircooled one? In my experience the extra power you get from having your lights as close as possible is worth the fan cost. Sounds like you have it going so far though; sorry if my advice is a little "noobish" if you're already educated on these points(as your description of your grow indicates)

Its an open batwing, I screwed up thinking that my ambient temps would be cool
enough but that light really heats up...lol

Im gonna order a cooltube and an 8 inch inline next week.

I would suggest it, it really helps with the "efficiency" of the light. Light follows the invert square law.
The intensity (or illuminance or irradiance) of light or other linear waves radiating from a point source (energy per unit of area perpendicular to the source) is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source; so an object (of the same size) twice as far away, receives only one-quarter the energy (in the same time period).

This tells us that distance is going to be a large factor in how much "light" your plants can receive. I always keep my lights on pulleys and keep them as close as possible to the tops of my plants without causing any heat damage. Feel free to take a look at my grow in my signature.

Nice grow man!

Right now Im relying on my outside room ambient temps for cooling. It is around 50f outside the room and with a large fan blowing
straight at the lights and plants my cab temps are from 80-85f. The light is about 26 inches away.

The cooltube is a must though, regulating the temps and adjusting the light is a pain.

Oh I know. Funny you bring that up I actually just found that a couple of days ago. Doing some math I relized that multiple 150s is better then 400, 600, and 1Ks... Pretty interesting... But that all depends how close you can get that 150... 4" isn't that much. But their are plent of ways to cool a room.


I remember this one grow this guy and like 15K in his room. No reflector, just the bulbs, and he had so much AC that the bulbs could touch his plants without harm.. The dude would get like 2-4lbs a plant fuckin insane

Yeah, and if you check out the picture that Psilocybindude put up, you can see that your plants 26 inches away are getting approx 7459 lumens. If you were to reduce that distance to 13 inches you'd be receiving 29,834 lumens. You use the same amount of electricity but get 400% more lumens. It's worth the investment! :)

My plants can touch my cooltube reflectors without harm. I usually have to end up stringing those girls off the lights just so they don't shade the rest of the room. My girls are going ballistic since my addition of c02...

Yeah I've never really wanted CO2.. I mean maybe if I had a warehouse full or maybe just a house full.

But one tent I feel like they're better investment.. Like another tent!

Its a lot to read, and a lot to understand, but to make it simple.
6 CO2+ 6 H2O + V = C6H12O6 (sugar) Where V is light.
This tells us that you can't utilize all of your light without adequate CO2 levels. Your plant "knows" how much CO2 is in the air, so it grows that much.

Transplanted into 3gal pots today. The roots were at the bottom
of those little starter cups so this will give them a chance to stretch their legs.

Dont get me wrong, the cups werent full of roots just the tap was at the bottom.

The tent is here, will post pics of it when I set it up later tonight.

Average CO2 levels of air not enriched with CO2 is about 300-400. Marijuana plants can easily handle levels of 1200-1500 PPM CO2. I did my first grow without CO2. I supplemented CO2 mainly just to see if I would get a better result. I am happily impressed and I think its a must add to any grower who's harvesting regularly. 300$ investment; I'd be willing to bet you make it back in yield increase first grow.

Good good, sounds like you are getting a handle on it. Those tents hold heat! Careful with that batwing. Watch your temps! I cooked my first girls >.<

Just a quick update.
They are in the new tent, the light is about 17 inches away
but because of the heat I have to leave the tent open and
a large fan blowing in.

Temps are steady at 81.5f
