whenever you want mate but do it too early, say 3 weeks veg from seed and your plants wont be mature enough to start to flower, going to 12/12 at this point has little use imo unless you need flowering to start as soon as possible then as soon as the plant can flower it will but you may slow veg by doing this because you are giving the plant less light.

At around 5-6 weeks you plants may start to show pre-flowers (google it) at this point plants are ready to flower and sex can be determined so its ideal to wait until this point to swich to 12/12.

The plants can be left in veg for as long as you want, you could veg them for 6 months and grow some monster trees.

If you are growing from clone you can swich early too but its ideal to let roots develop well before hand, a clone is a cutting from a mature plant and can flower at any point under 12/12.

Hope this helps mate

There is no right or wrong to this question. Many people decide based on their set up.

With that said, you can switch to 12/12 too soon. It won't harm your plant but it will not start actually flowering until the plant is mature enough. Once it's matured then you can put it into 12/12 anytime.

Many plants will grow to 100-140% of it's size when switched to 12/12. If your plant is 24" and you switch to 12/12, it might grow as much as an extra 33 inches (for a total of 57).

If you've found that you waited too long and you're going to run out of space you can simply bend and tie the top of the plant to something stationary so it's horizontal instead of vertical. I've even had a friend take the top of the plant and bend it so much it was pointing towards the grownd. Not two days later the plant started to curve itself right back towards the light. Almost looked like a roller coaster.

The bottom line is, you can switch to 12/12 when you want to.

i grow two weeks from seed at 24/0 then 4 to 5 weeks vegging 18/6 until the plant is roughly 24" then jump it to 12/12, i dont look for pre flowers i know that many do but i know by this point my plant is mature enuff. also i dont want it going above 5 foot. thats the way i, and my buddys, do it.

change the numbers on your timer when your ready to flower. Is this question actually "when should i switch to 12/12?" im gonna guess yes, I dont switch to 12/12 until i see pre-flowers. that way i know its mature and ready to flower.
