17 days on 12/12 w/ no flowering???

i had them on 18/6 for one week after the seed popped out of the soil. it was a short veg, but i am shocked that they have yet to begin flowering. any ideas? does it take this long when a very short veg is used?

i can see a very slight (and dim) light coming from my grow box when running, but i have a hard time believing that that much light is getting into the box during the dark cycle. we are talking 400w hps inside the box and only one small cfl to keep the room outside the box lit.

1 week is not a very long veg stage. Now you are forcing flowering. It will obey but needs to get all in order first. I would be patient but also never would flower so early..

It's probably not the light leak, my cabinet has light leaks in the door that I was worried about but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Like you said, a tiny bit of cfl light intrusion is still pretty dark compared to a 400 hps. I would suspect that the plant is taking its time because it is still pretty young.

One week? A seedling will not flower, even in 12/12, until it's ready.

i was aiming for a party cup grow, basically 12/12 from seed, but my plants stopped growing due to being overwhelmingly root bound. i transplanted and they are back on track - which works out well due to me not ending up with as many as i had anticipated.
