150W Sea of Green SoG

I had a thread to compare CFLs to T5s but that was taken over by 150W HPS suggestions, until I mentioned the cabinet was only 36" tall. But tonight I saw a SoG and I didn't realize how small the pots are.

Do you think I could get away with a SoG with only 36" of space. The cabinet is 36 x 12 x 24 (or 18) inches. I figured I could have 18" of grow height. This factors in 6" taken up by the light, 9" taken up by the space between the light and the tops, and 3" taken up by the pots. Leaving 18" of height.

Thoughts? Also should I get the 18" wide or 24" wide cab. Thanks.

I dont know about that. while SOG does take up less space, you have to figure in the height of the pots and about 12-18 inches of space between the tops of the plant and the light. tie a piece of 12"-18"string from your light and place one of the pots you plan to use under the string and you'll see exactly how much space you have to work with. plants can easily be burned if placed to close a light which doesnt make for happy buds. If it were me, i think i would use a CFL for that amount of space. CFL's will produce much less weight but the light emitted from them is close to natural day light which makes for very sticky buds covered with crystals. there's my two pennies
