150 watt hps question

i am using a 150 watt hps for young vegetating plants how far away from the light should i keep my seedlings and young veg plants (smaller than 6 inch plants) i know mh is better but only have hps right now. thanks

prob about 8 inches. put your hand about a foot under the light palm facing down, slowly raise your hand until u can feel the heat baking it. just under that point should be good. you could mount a fan to blow across the bottom of light and might ba able to get a little closer.
