150 metal halide help please! electrical wiring help needed

so i got this 150 metal halide light but it has no 120 volt plug in its just a wire so my bud wired it to one but still isnt working and he moved some other stuff around, im not to great with wiring my buddy thats good with that kinda stuff that gave me the light to begin with is coming over anyone know what to do? tips, diagrams, anything would be appreciated embarassed to say but i dont know anything about wiring

ok so you have the bulb, that screws into the bulb housing, and usually the center is positive and the 'screw' part of the bulb is the negative.

that goes to the BALLAST which you need for all lights (that are not incandescent). CFL lamps have ballasts built in. metal halide do not. anyways, you wire the positive negative and a ground (connected to the housing of the bulb somewhere), and from there you plug in the ballast.

take some pics and lemme see what ya got.

ditto. the power coming out of your wall isn't enough to power a grow light. you need to amplify that power... a ballast.

Take it to a lighting store, they'll check it out for you and make the proper recommendations.

If you don't understand electricity, don't fuck around with it. 115 can kill, and it can easily start a fire.
