It will work for indicas but not some sativas, i noticed hard core sativas need atleast 12 hours of night to start budding and thats slowly they do better with 11-13 i find that they flower a bit quicker

It's doable, but you need to work with a strain for a bit to find out its 'critical dark' period. That is, the minimum # of hours of dark that it will trigger flowering. All are different and it's a trial and error thing.

what he said.

for example, i grew 4 outdoor strains this year. some started to flower in august, others in september, a good month or more later. just depends on the strain.

remember that it will effect finish times too. if you do an 11-13(light/dark) it will make you girls finish earlier than using 13-11. but the yield wont be as high. just depends on what your goal is.

ok, thats the day lenght outside right now right here, everything (sativa too) flowering just fine. Often I ajust my times with a GPS sun up and sun down times. i get longer flower times for some plants that need it this was also incresses potency due to the fact the plant grows longer. you just have to try it My first time was with White Rhino cause of the breeders advice. every said that rhino was like no rhino ever, people were suck to tables and chairs.

Yes, it works. There was an article in in High Times or Skunk about a year ago from a grower who does this...I will look for the article. But basically you start out with 12/12 untill your plants are well into budding. After about 3 to 4 weeks I change the light to 13/11. It puts the plants into overdrive. The I will slowly bring it back down to 12/12 over the course of about 6 weeks, then begin the flush. If I can find the article I will post it.
