Ok plants were stunted for about a month and last 12 days I've managed to get them to grow.
Ok height i was told to take up to 3ft,over the 12 days ive lowered it to a little bit over 2 feet.Should i stay at that height because i feel they aren't growing as quick as they should be because of height ,will lowering light speed things up or keep it at 2 feet or higher.thank you.

What kind of light are you using and who said to keep it 3ft away? I'd keep my 1000W MH at 3ft for a couple days with those but would work it down to 18" in 10 days or so. With my 400W I'd start at 18" and work down to a foot in a week.

I know when I want plants to grow slowly I use way less light and food and can keep them near dormant for months if needed.

I'd say yours need more light to get moving.

As @Herb & Suds said, you will see a stall at first, they are networking the roots, so don't go changing shit up. Let them do thier thing. They go through this little phase of establishing roots before foliar growth to prepare for it. Don't over light them. At this stage, they don't need much, maybe 600 PAR.. if that.. stay on course and see what happens.

Most people on here say stay well above 2ft,ive lowered it to 18inches im going to 12 next sunday.
I did a test on a shit little plant i had and taped it on s pole and put it about 12 inches 3 days ago and even put it closer last night about 10inches(cool tube) and it grew quicker in 3 days than others.

Most people on here say over 2ft,i had a plant wasn't growing at all at 2feet so i put it on a pole and placed about 10/12 inches away(cool tube) and it grew quicker than others over the last 3 days.

Right now would be a good time to use a photometer and measure what they seem to be happy with. It might also surprised you to compare a cool tube HID with a modern LED. I'm shifting from HID to LED. I highly recommend a meter or even a phone app. I'm currently using Photone, it's more for a trend line than pinpoint accuracy. It helps remove the guesswork

About 30000 lumens except front plant as its the tallest its about 37.
The bushy one looks like it liked the light being lowered as the top 2 nodes grew a little

I am Tuesday but been told to rip plants out and start again,i think kush clone going good
Is the same person who told you to keep the light so high saying to rip out the plants now? What is their reasoning for that?

The plants look fine and with the light closer you should see better growth very soon.

I think you should maybe stop getting advice from this person.

Start thinking about flower now. If that 400 HPS in a cool tube will allow a seedling that close you may need more light to effectively finish.
A 400W in a 3x3 is plenty of light for that space. I use 400s, 600s and 1000W hps for the area I need to cover and have for over 20 years. A 600 is the most efficient re: watts/sqft but overkill for that space and a bit warmer. With the reflective walls no light is wasted like it is in my grow room so should work pretty good. I just use open bat-wing type reflectors as I need the heat in there.

Precisely those Cool Tube reflectors always seemed to dramatically rob the space of light. I started with 250 HPS in a closet and after a minute of that yesterday changed out my last HID (1000w HPS) to a Scorpion Diablo X and I'm working on dialing that environment in. So he's fine now but he may not get enough from that light in a Cool Tube to finish. But here's to not spending more money on this money pit of a hobby LOL
