12 bucket rdwc with 25 gallon reservoir.....need help

What's up y'all newb here needing help. So I'm getting all the pieces together on this grow set up. I bought a 12 bucket rdwc bubble ponics system with 25 gallon rez and it came with all the parts needed for set up which I have assembled . Now my question comes regarding the 24 timer that came with it. I understand the air pump to air stones in each bucket connected runs constantly. What I don't understand is what the eco plus submersive water pump runs on? Is it 24/7 365 like air stones? Or do I use the timer that came with system to to program the water pump to circulate a certain amount of water throughout out whole system?? And if so which I think is the case , what's the recommended time settings for that? I'm assuming I connect the plug for water pump to actual timer which then plus to outlet correct?? If pics are needed lemme know.....I need as much help as I can get with this whole set up lol newb struggling over here y'all.

hey whats up trapgod

the nutes/water circulates all the time in this kind of system. i have played around a little bit with shutting the circ pump off intermittently due to heat problems but i wouldnt wanna do it too long. pumps do go out, so to play it safe you might wanna keep a spare around.

@sinnamon ohhhhh thnx for the advice bro lol u know its funny i usually already know the answer to these questions i post but i still have to ask for confirmation.....so now i assume the timers that came with it are for the lights correct? i have some solar storm 880's but with 12 buckets i figure i need to get at least one more led or a t5 supplemented with cfl....what do u think? and btw yea i already have replacement water pump and air pump just in case.....

The air pump runs 24/7 , so that plugs directly into outlet.
The submersible pump controls the watering/feeding cycle . This goes into a timer . Usually a 15 minute cycle .
The lights go on another timer .
This is how I run mine . Two timers
All plugs , ( including the timers ) go into a surge protector . The surge protector goes into wall outlet .

@dadio161 thanx for advice bro I checked out a couple of your grows.....nice I like your set ups their clean af. I saw you don't use hydroton any reason why?? I already got a bag of it so I know to rinse thoroughly with PhD water.....and ok so I connect submersive pump on timers with 15 minute continous cycles right?? I have a monster surge protector rated for 1800 watts. Should do it I assume. Lemme know thnx

Your pump controlling your feeding cycle depends on your needs .
I use Rockwool and I use a 15 minute cycle 3 times a day . I don't use hydroton because it is just another expense and will require a bit of work to clean between grows . My system works just fine with the Rockwool sitting directly on the tray .
You surge protector sounds perfect .

so then essentially what your saying is you only turn on that pump three times a day for 15 minutes each time right?? And yea I've seen some grows where people don't use anything but rockwool and then use aluminum or whatever to surround the stem to prevent light from touching roots. I might try that next time. Figure since I bought this stuff might as well use it. And yea it's a fireproof surge protector with a lot of joules capability wise.

correct . Using Rockwool , I only need to flood three times a day . Only when the lights are on .The roots only come to the bottom of the block . No need to trim them or cover the bottom .

Yea that's a doorway of doing things but obvy it's effective and works so hell yea more power to u. Saves money on medium to. What kind of water do u use? Tap or ro?
