12 1k lights 18x18

Would 12 1000w lights be overkill for a 18x18 space?

18x18=324sqft

12,000w/324sqft=37w per square foot.

So no. It is not overkill.

16 1k lamps would give each light a 4'x4' foot print with 1' walk way all the way around the garden.

16 1k lights will give you 49w per square foot which is ideal.

5 ton can do 12 lights. I would do two 3 ton mini splits

I think adower just did the math based on his room. He has a sick one with DE lamps. 8 tons for nothing to go wrong on 12 DE sounds super safe. Think the op lives in the dessert also.

I do 9'lights 3 DE and I use 4 tons. Overkill is chill, but you're acs won't dehumidify as much if they are working at half power. In a residential that'll make you use more Dehu action and get the electricity up there. To each there own. 8 tons works just seems overkill to me. I have an 8 lighter with 5 tons Ac and it doesn't pull near as much water as the 9 light with 4 tons

I run gavitas and the rule of thumb for them is 6k btu per 1k. I've tried less and the Ac can't keep up. It def could also depend on the light he runs. Everyone I know switched to gavitas a long time ago so they're like the norm to me.
