12/12 from seed. Start with the T5 light or start with HPS?

Hello everyone. Ok I am starting my 12/12 from seed grow. I was wanting to know what would be best. Should I start 12/12 from seed under the T5 light for a couple of weeks or with the HPS light from the start?

I think start with a t5 how many watts is the hps

The hps is just 150 watts. This is just a hobby grow with some bagseed. Thank you for the reply.

Well I'm unsure some one with better will come along soon man hang tight

Can you fit both? It's not like 150W is overkill. HPS top, T-5 on side? Think about it!

I have done both. I have started with t5's until seed sprouts and kept there for bout a week, then over to the hps. I also have germed and put right under the hps. just depends on what im doing. my profile pic shows 6 seedlings under the hps. you just have to remember regardless of 12/12 from seed there is still going to be a veg before it starts to flower.

Hello thank you for the reply. I do understand about vegging even with 12/12 from seed. Thats why I was asking about starting them under the T5 1st, then moving too the hps.

Hello, what size pots did you use or using for 12/12 from seed? I am using just a small 24x24x55 tent with a 150 watt hps. I havd 1 gallon pots and I have 2 gallon pots. With the smaller pots I can add more plants. With the 2 gallon pots I can place 4 in the tent.

I have done 1 3/4 gallon from seed with indicas and 5 gallon from seed with sativas. right now im running 2 gallons with sativas and indicas. I do 12/12 from seed and some I veg also. I do what it takes to keep something coming off every month

So would you go with 1 gallon pots to have more plants or 2 gallon pots and just have 4 plants?

my tent is a 3x3. I can pack it with 16 2 gal pots. I find indicas do better in those pots. I take lower growth off. I will post some pics I took a few hours ago

I would do the 2 gallons. But I would need more than 4 so I can understand why you chose the 1 gallons

very nice plant. So with 12/12 from seed. You do not top the plants correct?

Just my preference not to top indica's. I have a couple of Sativa's that I did top.

I did mine under t5 20,000 lumen light 1st thr 4 weeks did some LSTing then flip to your HPS.

But most would say HpS from day 1

I currently have 4 plants growing right now, Polar express, marmalade, AK 47 and a bag seed.
I grew under t5 lights (2' x 8 bulbs) see pic for the first 4 weeks then flipped to 12/12 under 372 watts of CFL bulbs got them for free so why buy an hps right? 20@14 watts and 4@23 watts=372 watts everything else is home made notice my hood is a cardboard box flap with mylar plastic that i get from mail order medicines. my setup cost less than 28 bucks not including exhaust fan for 65 bucks used on amazon.my t5 was $118.
I keep my lights 3-4 inches from my plants. tomorrow starts week 3 of flower, i did a shitload of LSTing and topping,my tallest plant is at 23" my shortest at 16". I use grow bags no pots.
