11th State Consults

OK, long story short- my Doc won't recommend. He doesn't want to be "on a list". I have 2 herniated disks in my back and don't like taking vicodine.

I called 11th State yesterday. A nice woman told me to bring in my documentation (MRI) and $300 CASH. This raises a red flag to me. I give them $300 cash, they sign the recommendation, and then I wait?

I also can't find any web presence for this organization. I would really like to use my legal right to medicate naturally, but I can't afford to be scammed out of $300. I am very willing to pay the $300 if it works, and I end up with a license.

Can anyone verify that this place is legit? The woman I spoke to told me to "tell my friends", and the person who posts on another board as "11thstateconsults" seems to be trying to push people to call and set up appointments. That is all fine and good to try to drum up business- if it is legit. I just have my doubts. I would hate to see some people trying to take advantage of patients' eagerness to be legal and off prescription meds.

I posted this on another board as well and will report back if I get responses. Anyone care to comment?

I went to a Dr in RI that charges $400 cash and got my card with no problems. Several of my friends have also got there cards from him. I have not heard of anyone going to 11th state consults. I do have the other dr's info and he also has an ad in 1000 watts mag.

With those conditions, I'm sure you can find a neurologist willing to sign off. I had to find a neurologist myself as my pcp wouldn't sign. G'luck...

I know he was away in January and most February but started back up and the end of February. I just called the office cell and the message was still for cannabis consultation. If he's gone that's too bad.........

Nope gone as of 2011.No longer with the program.

yeah i tried calling the number in 1000watts it went to a voicemail box that is full.

I set up my appointment with 11th State Consults already. It seems legit, I know its a nurse practitioner that signs the forms. As long as the person signing has the authority to do so the state shouldn't turn you down when you send in your paperwork. anyone know what the wait on the card is like right now? I've heard 6 weeks+. What about caregivers? If I sign someone up and send in the money for their card will it be approved? Ive heard they're not accepting new CG apps.

Im sure there is NO way they are NOT accepting CG forms..Its been a 6 week wait for both cards.

Mattysville,

I applaud your courage to be the first to venture to 11th state consults. I hope it works well for you and the community. There is nothing wrong with a nurse practitioner signing the patient recommendation--just make sure there is thorough documentation of medical problems and a legitimate examination. From the (marketing) representative on this site--and others--it seems that this organization is just trying to penetrate the burgeoning market of patient recommendations before the influx due to CC openings. These health care organizations do have to tread carefully because they run risk of violations regarding the RI DOH, such as with the friendly doctor.

Ultimately, this service exists in most (if not all) states with MMP. It is a necessary health service for a population that is most likely to be un/underinsured. Add to that the discomfort felt by most health practitioners and you have the recipe for a nice niche market. Again, thanks for giving them a chance and letting us know how it works out.

There is no information to my knowledge about the CG program being suspended at this time. I'm sure RIPAC--and a lot of activists online--would sound the bullhorn if that were the case.

Be well,

CD

To comment on the waiting time, I just got my card about 3 weeks ago and it was right at a 6 week wait (but felt like much longer!)

Thanks for the info CD. As you said this type of service is the norm in MMP states. The fact that it took RI so long to finally have one that isn't afraid to operate is surprising. I have health insurance (luckily it sucks not to i know that) but since I moved back to RI i haven't been to a doctor other than my chiropractor so this is the quickest way for me to get the card, I don't want to go loking for a specialist who will sign the forms when all I need is the occasional adjustment to my back, a massage from my GF every night and a nice smoke to relax the muscles.

I seem to remember last time I read thru the text of the bill there was an affirmative defense clause for patients who have their physician reccomendation but haven't gotten the card yet. I just read thru the newest version in the RIPAC site and theres nothing in there about it anymore? anyone know what the deal with that is? did Affirm. Def. go away? That is quite sad if it did considering the wait time is at 6 weeks now. the plant limit verbage is slightly different now too. the way it reads now seems like seedlings and clones don't count towards plant limit counts.
