10X12 grow room

So a friend of mine just came across a 10 foot by 12 foot room, with the ceilings around 7 feet. It is all going to be devoted to growing, but what would be the best way to take advantage of this?

I figured 1000w HPS, but how many of them? They also do not want to harvest year round, so it doesn't needed to be divided up into different rooms for flower and veg, it can all be done in the same room.

Another thing is that they want to stay in soil.

But if you had this much room what would you do? help me help them take full advantage of the space

kinda depends on how many plants you want... but I would pack multiple lights (and if your not gonna have a veg room I would buy a HPS/MH conversion) and maybe a rail or two in there personally

Is there like a guide that shows like, the size of an area, ammount of watts, then how many plants you can have?

Foe peak performance a 1000w light will cover a 3x3 area. it will work for 4x4 and even up to 6x6 but there will be diminished returns on the outer area. If you go with a 1000w every 3x3 you will peak out your grow area. But this comes with a challenge of heat also. If you can afford the AC you will be fine. But if not you may want to go with less lights over larger areas and get less quality product out of the outer area.

Same size room here. & foot ceilings. But I have to use it for all stages of growth so I cut it up in 3 parts: 10x12, 5x12 & 5x12 again.
Flowers, Moms, & Youngsters. (Clones and seeds get started on a shelf outside the room).

I cut it in half the long way, and flower in the 5x 12 section. 3 600's on adjustable chains for flowering. Light mover bought but not installed.
Exhaust fan is up on the wall and vents outside through 40 lb carbon filter.

For Flowering - run 2 1000 or 3 600 watts lights. put two on a light rail mover either way. You'll cover 12 feet long by 4 or 5 feet wide. throw some quick frames & sheetrock up to make two rooms each 4x5 or so next to the flowering portion. One for Moms and One for youngsters . Get reflective surface such as mylar on all walls facing a plant.Get small oscillating fans in the flowering room. Keep humidity at 50 percent. Keep temps at 70. A little 5-10 percent variation either way wont hurt - but cold plants, hot plants, dried out plants and moldy plants won't grow well. Get good seeds or clones and go. Dont let any bugs in your room from anyone else's clothes, clones, shoes... whatever.

My little set up gives me between 1 and three o's per plant when I grow them 3-5 feet tall.

SSH, Chocolope, Blackberry, Blue Hash, Heavy Duty Fruity, WW, Super Crystal, Aussie Blue, Blueberry Jam, Jilly Bean...did all these readily available plants with success.

Good times.
