1000W Newbie First Grow, First Journal

Hey guys/girls! Great to be on this forum! Lots of cool, helpful people on here. This is my first grow and I'm looking forward to all the constructive criticism/feedback and a fun learning experience. I'm already about 4 weeks into veg. An early, short-term drought stunted their growth for some time, but everything is looking good now. Wish I would have started the journal from the beginning, but oh well! Enough with the small-talk, lets get on it with it!

I'll begin with a little background on my setup. I'm growing in a 5x5 tent in my bedroom. Fortunately, my mother is moving out soon (no, I'm not 40 years old, I'm 22) and letting me keep the condo (2 bedroom place), so I'll be able to take her room and have this room dedicated to just growing! Woot woot! I'm currently using a 1000W MH dimmed to 50% for now, probably up it to 75% soon. Using a 8" flanged Raptor hood and an adaptor to 6" ducting and exhaust fan pulling out. Reason for this is because they were out of the 6" hood and "upgraded" me to the 8". Not sure if I lucked out or if the adaptor is a drag on my exhaust fan. I live in Arizona, where it gets 110+ in the middle of the summer, so I'm running an 8000 BTU window A/C unit with a thermostat on it. This keeps the temps in the tent from anywhere between 73.5 during the night cycle and up 79 during the day cycle, sometimes reaching up to 81, but rarely over that. When the A/C compressor isn't on, the fan on the A/C is constantly running to bring fresh air into the room for the CO2. I have an "Exhale Homegrown CO2" bag, for supplemental CO2 just in case. If you don't know what this is, I suggest you check into it! They're a great alternative to using expensive CO2 tanks etc if you're running a relatively small grow like me. You'll see it when I post a few pics of my setup. I'm growing with Fox Farm Ocean Forest and the Fox Farm 3 part nutrients (Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom). On to the grow part....

So I germinated a bag-seed about a week earlier than the rest just to practice germination. I was going to toss it so I could keep an even canopy but I was "growing" attached to it, so I kept her. The rest were feminized seeds from nirvana. I had 5 AK48 and 5 Northern Lights #5. I'm growing in soil, but started them in rockwool cubes. The whole "easy-transplant" thing about rockwool seemed very appealing to a noob like me. I did everything correct with the humidity dome, heating pad, etc etc. Not going to go into all that because that part of the grow is long past. Anyways... they had only been sprouted for a couple days and I came home from work during lunch to check on them and the cubes were all dried up. Only 2 of them survived. I don't know which strain I'm left with, but they're growing identical so they are both the same strain, just don't know which one it is. Maybe some of you have grown Northern lights or AK 48 and will recognize the strain :)

So, now we're into the 4th week of veg. I started the bag-seed a week earlier so it's in it's 5th week and a lot larger because it didn't undergo an early drought. However, it's looking very unhealthy. The two smaller ones are actually looking very healthy though! Only "flaw" I can point out is the fact that the edges of the leaves have a silver lining/glow to them. I'll post pictures of these as well.

Questions I have so far: Since I only have three plants left (and with the bagseed looking like its going to be male....), how long should I veg these for so that I can still have a decent yield? Also, should I top them or just let them grow and fill out the light footprint/tent space as they see fit?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Edit: Btw: In case you're wondering from the pictures, I disconnected the ducting going from the hood to the carbon filter. I figured I'm not in flowering so I don't need it yet and could make use of the increased airflow.

Anybody know what the silver lining is on these leaves? It it just a illusion from light reflecting off of them or is it some kind of deficiency?
