! kw of HID would cover the area but I would be "thinking" 400's or 600's. The space you are dealing with is an awkward situation for using a single 1 kw HID. These lights displace a lot of heat and have to be isolated from flammable materials.
For example, I would never install a 1 kw HID into the ceiling like a typical lightbulb that goes in someones living room ceiling fixture.
Then if you're gonna be using plantpots there goes some more vertical space.
I'm not a real big fan of 250's but I "think" four 250's would be a better option.

I'm going to use a cool tube fixture and hood w/fan for heat, and the height is actually 62" if I lower the shelf the plants are on to just off the floor
That gives me about 48" of headroom, and most plants don't get over about 36" right?
Also, it's a dim-able digital ballast because I'm enlarging my space later this yr (maybe after current grow) to a 4' x 4' x 6' + space, and I have a 24" heat insulator pad/blanket to place above the light as a heat shield as it is a sheetrock enclosure
