1000w me and hps hang height in 4x4 tent

so I’m working with a 1000w my inside an air cooled xxxl SunSystem hood what should my ball park hang height be ? I’m curently at 27” and I started see the edges of the leafs curl up so I used it to 29” hopefully that helps but I’m just wondering if I’m losing the benefit of handing 1000w light hanging it that high
 
The 1000 W HPS can hang around 20" above a good sized healthy adult plant.

Use the back of the hand test ... hold it under the light at 20" and after about 30 seconds, if it feels too warm for the back of your hand it's too warm for the ladies. Move your hand a little bit further away and when you reach that point where it's not too warm, that height would be good for the plants.

Damn dude I’m at 32” right now and I’m seeing leaf edges curl on my one lady the other one looks completely fine and is sitting about 5” taller so idk maby she just needs to be slowly lowered
 
Your leaves arent happy, raising your light would help, but it wont solve the problem. Your VPD is too high, which means your leaves are hot, hence them curling. Based on the pic you're at 81f and 45% humidity, that means your leaf VPD is probably between 1.5-1.9. During veg you want to be .8-1.3 (ideally 1 or less). Raise your humidity to 65% if you're running at 80f

Regarding defoliation, I'm not sure what style you're going with, so cant help there. Looks like you've done some topping. However, airflow underneath is important, just remember that.

I dont grow hps any more, but when I did I had my 1000 watt bulbs in air cooled hoods on light movers and I could get that big ole bulb 8-12 inches from the canopy with no heat stress or light bleech. Made for some big ole dense buds for sure.
 
I want to set up a 10x10 with 3 1000hps on light movers. I know you need 4 to get the g/w but since it’s on a mover I think the Yeild and quality could be close to a 4 light setup if done right.
