1000w light bulbs with 2 prongs at each end - what are these?

This woman I know (experienced indoor grower) is selling her equipment, she has this light system for her flower room that she claims cost her like $500 each. It has a special hood with no exhaust ducting (she said it does not get that hot) and uses a 1000 watt bulb that has 2 prongs at each end (like a T5 bulb). The bulb is about 12 inches long and thinner than hps 1000 bulbs. And they run on a regular 1000 watt digital ballast, she uses Lumatek.

She does not know what they are, she's not into the technical stuff, but she said the bulbs alone were like $150, and the system is the bomb. I'm trying to figure out what the hell kind of light it is. At first I thought it was LEC but it is not. What kind of light is this?

double ended hps. they are newer here . expose to have a lot more par . only better if you have a digital quality ballast . not yet worth the cost . price will be dropping n a few years I would pass and you have to put them in a open hood. so I wonder if these double ended bulbs was tested no hood and other bulb in a hood lol not a fare test by the manufacturers

Yeah, that is what they are, just googled it. She has the Sun System Agrotech Magnum Double Ended Reflector and the Lumatek digital ballast. She is selling the ballast, hood, and bulb for $200. Is it worth it? The only downside is the bulb is almost a year old.

That's a great deal. Buy a new bulb.

It seems like the Sun Systems hoods are the lower end compared to Gavita and ePapillon hoods. Are these things still worth the price?

Thanks for the link, but that review is for 3 air cooled hoods, the one I'm thinking of buying is not AC. I'm concerned about the heat factor. Does anyone run one of these non air cooled hoods tell me how hot the room gets? We are coming into summer.

If it is more heat then why are these expensive hoods without air cooling?
Because they are supposed to be much higher over your canopy than traditional hid lighting...10-12 ft

I was looking for someone running that Agrotech magnum, because I'm about to purchase one for my new Solis Tek Matrix DE ballast and found this thread. I'm gonna jump out the window a bit and switch from vert barebulb. I'm gonna see if I can pack more plants (36) in my 8x8 flower tent and run a single 1000w de lamp (Solis Tek) on a light mover
