Hello Rollitup,

I plan on ordering my first HPS, i'm someone you could call new to the HID family fyi. Personally I wanted to go 1000w for the faster growth and sick harvests. You "pros" or ppl with more experince help me get the most bang for my buck. The area will be 6.5ft x 6.5ft x 2.5. I plan on trying the sea of green method for a quick veg. I also plan on having 1 plant per square foot. I would like ideas on which wattage to take, and like i said earlier the most bang for my buck. Try to keep in mind I woud like the best harvest as for quanity. Keep in mine this is my first time with HPS lighting i'm going to have to learn how to combat the heat it gives off. Just keep it honest with me! I'm down to try some crazy stuff! Mixing different wattages, i would even try MH. The more info the better IMO. Rep will be given freely!:leaf::leaf::leaf:

i think the 600w has the best lumens per watt out of all of them mate, and so should produce the highest yeild in theory. Also the MH bulb is better than the hps for the veg stage, i use MH for veg and then switch to hps for Flower. lots just use hps all the way through with great results though. peace

I would get 2 600s over the 1000w. heat, esp hot spots, will be less of an issue, you can really cover that area and for only 200 more watts your lumen output will rock a 1000. good luck!

This is exactly what i wanted!!!!!!!!!!! A comparision to help make me make a better decision!

In my decision of choosing lights, i chose 2 600 watt hps over the 1000 watt. Reason was the 600s have a higher lumer per watt and is also a lot less hot. Therefore you are able to put the 600 watt a lot closer to the plants compared to a thousand watts.

They have dual bulb cool tubes & dual bulb hoods like the Growzilla that you could put both HPS & MH in. You could have a bulb of each for more spectrum coverage or have 2 MH for veg & swap it with 2 HPS for flower. Either way you could mix & match whatever bulbs you want in the dual cooltube & growzilla. Personally I would try one harvest with a 600 watt hps & mh through the whole grow, then the next harvest I would try dual MH for Veg & dual HPS for flower. That way you have best lumer per watt with the 600's & you also have great spectrum coverage with hps & mh

That sounds sick man! After about a year of researching your the first to mention. I'll look more into this. Rep earned

Hop on this conversion! We need debate! Where are the 1000watters! The 400s, The 250s!! Scared to rep yyour lighting!

The thing is that many folks start out using something smaller 150,250,400 etc but once they get the hang of growing soon want bigger.

the way i see it is headroom ! i use 600's but i dont necessarily think there the best as they get hot hot hot ! 1000w get even hotter !
will they be aircooled ?
i know 600's look best on paper but it really depends on many factors.

He could also run dual filament bulbs and have a spectrum mix that would be more evenly distributed. The 600-watt dual filament bulbs put out 300-watts of both metal halide and high pressure sodium lighting and the 1000-watt bulbs put out 400-watts of metal halide and 600-watts of high pressure sodium lighting.
