1000w First Grow problems

Hey all was looking for a little friendly advice on my current grow. Im using a closet 5 ft wide 10 feet tall and 3ish feet deep. I bought a 1000watt HPS lamp. I know its overkill, but for the price it seemed better at tehy time to spend a few bucks more for way more lamp, think i was wrong. I getminated a few seeds and once they got good tap roots i popped them in PRO MIX BX. I have them about 3.5f from the lamp, and they have been alive for a week and 3 days and dont look too good. yellowish and very frail Im also having a very hard time keeping any sort of averag temp. It get very hot with the closet door shut only a little. over 30 easily. With the closet door open a bit and fans on it still is very hot. I bought a humidifier put it in there and still cant keep humidity above 20ish % because the closet door being open all the time i assume. I bought a 140 CFM exhaust fan and am running that witht eh door poen and a fan blowing in, but still cant maintain my desired temp or humidity. I dont want my grow to be doomed from teh start, please share any info you guys can. Also should i maybe looking to find a place to trade in my 1000wattrer for a 400 or 600 maybe. Just would kinda suck to do so.

1000w HPS
140cfm exhaust
cheapo home depot humidifier
6 inch pots
Pro Mix BX
tap water
12 inch 3 speed fan for air to plants
10 inch fan keeping ballast cool

Thats a small space for a 1000W, mines about 2 times as big and a 600W is sufficient.


DO NOT USE TAP WATER!

Let is sit for 24-36 hours before you use tap water so that the chlorine and other chemicals can dissipate.

For that space I would ditch the 1000W and get a 400 or 600, even with fans it will prove difficult to control the temp.

Sorry forgot to mention that i do let it sit for a day or so b4 using it. I was told to only use tap water with pro mix bx for teh first few weeks atleast. Pro mix is supposed to control the PH of tap water for me but I dont really know. As for temp its a crap shoot...kinda pissed at myself for getting a 1000.
