10000K Metal Halide bulbs

Anyone knows if something like this would work? It's supposedly meant for aquariums, but given the light spectrum will it grow my plants?

yea it will veg your plants just fine i use mine to grow coral and all my fish tank plants
its not used for the fish just all other living things in the tank and it helps warm it also

sweet man! i'm currently using 5000k bulbs, but was thinkin of upgrading them, will the 10000k be better then the 5000k? If not there would'nt be a point upgrading them.

Is 10,000 the lumens or the kelvin number? If it is lumens, then of course 10 is more than 5, all other things being equal. If it is kelvin, then whoooohooo what a fucking bright sunning day. Check out a kelvin scale and see where 10,000 is at.

one is for 150W andthe otehr is for 400W...and I was sorts interested in what you thought about the spectral distribution with the peaks at like 420, 550 and 575.....what did you think of this as a grow light ?

i actually saw a chart posted by someone which showed the color temperature where light absorbtion by the plant was at it's peak, but i can't find that same chart now.. damn.

so can anyone tell me if the 10000k would be better the then 5000k?
5000k is closer to the recommended kelvin temp for cannabis growing and most other hydroponics growing. I think 10 000 is suited more to the color temp required for marine plants.

ok....so these lights are 10000K....obviously way up in the blues.....my new 400W HPS is 2000K or way into the reds....i'm gettting confused again!

Do you mean how in veg plants like 6500k and flowering 2500k?

Seems like absorbtion of light by chlorophyll peaks out at 430nm.

So i guess 430nm would be optimum for veg growth, as the rate of photosynthesis peaks at 430nm as well. so it's a go for the 10000k bulb!
