Hey everyone,

Well i bought a 1000 Watt HPS light without an air cooled hood ( Dumb ), the room is 8 wide x 10 long x 7 high, and the room is way too hot. So today i went and bought a Yield master 2 supreme vented hood. Now my question is this, tomorrow i will make my intake into another room and run my ducting to the light, same goes for the exhaust, will an 8" duct fan rated at 500CFM cool this down? Fan pushing before the light or sucking after the light? The room is 560CF.

Thanks everyone,
VirginHydro

a non vented hood can get the job done its the fresh air ur exahust fan should be bring cold air threw vents constantly cooling ur room, the fan should work for cooling and exhaust, good luck

either 2 seperate fans should be used or a Y connector on one large fan, should be pulling the air out of the hood and exhausting out good beans good luck

I have a 1000watt set up with a air cooled hood i have a 6in 450cfm fan and it keeps it cool no problem. i have it sucking the hot air out of the light threw the fan and out the exhaust of my grow room!!

Thanks HotPhyre, thats exactly what i went and did today except for me being a dumb ass at time, put everything in and thought i had everything, missing 2 clamps for the vent hose on both ends of the hood. Oh well there is always tomorrow. Reefer Master mentioned a NON vented hood will do the trick, not with a 1000 Watt Light and not sealed. Just the vented hood and being sealed lowered the temp a few degrees all by itself, tomorrow i should have all the bugs worked out of it.

Thanks guys

I have 2 sets of 2 1000 watt lights (all the lights have glass pane's in them to keep the hood sealed) that i then conjoined the ducting and ran it to a blower (either a between 400 and 500cfm), and it works fine. I also have 2 big ass fans in the room with a 12,500 btu ac unit .... Check it out on my journal.

usually total square foot x 3 times the amount.8x10 = 80 x7 =560 so 3 x 560 = 1680 cfms u would need 3 500cfm 8" at least!
