1000 HPS Econo Wing Grow Light...?

i found this HPS grow light for only $220, 1000 HPS Econo Wing Grow Light System, it would be going in my closet (84"W x 22.5"D) with intentions of growing roughly 18 plants... two rows with 9 plants on each row.

i just learned about these lights a few days ago, i had bought a 4' flourescent fixture and two grow light bulbs thinking that would do just fine... then i read about these and decided i needed this. the only thing is, i'm almost always short on cash so i can't afford some top of line $500 light system. what does everyone think of this, will it do the trick or do you know of a better one for a decent price? i did notice this is an open setup so if i did go with this, would a small desk fan aimed at the light be good for cooling?

This will be one hot light....unless you can do some ventilation,it will be too hot.
My closet is the same size,I have a 400 hps sealed hood..tested,with no fans over 100 in an hour...exhasut fan pulling cool air through the light,down to 95....cut an intake and added a double fan pulling cool air from closet next door...cool as i want to run it....I have had it down to 68...I run my temps from 74 to 80

That light will burn your crop. Air cooled is critical. Thats a lot of plant for a small space.

satman rocks- did you custom build your light system or did it come with the sealed hood? also, how many plants did you fit in there?

That Smell- it's not really that much crop... its a very wide closet... i could easily fit it... using 8" pots, it would even leave a little room for space between the pots... i don't plan to use big plants, only short ones... i'm going for a slightly modified setup similar to the one Al B. No,it came straight from sunlight supply...6" outlets on both ends...can you do some ventilation in your closet....does it share a common wall with another closet,for putting in some sort of intake/exhaust?

I currently have 6 in there...with room for my new starts

yes, now that i look at it, there is another closet behind the left side wall... what did you do, use a hole saw and cut a hole out?
