We're all preaching to the choir here.
Have you seen today's news about the letter that Pamala Anderson wrote and ent to Obama? She said we are letting the child molesters out of prison and keeping the pot smokers in prison and that is not right. She urged Obama to push for legalization. I'm writing Obama today too. Maybe she started a movement, I don't know, but I am moving!
I encourage you to write to Obama too.

Sign me up. Got a link that will get to HIM, or someone closer to him than a PR firm?

You guys just keep talking about the stupid politics! and yes we know its illegal because its money in their pockets!!!

Back to the smoke in theory, woodstock what did they do with a huge group of people smoking weed, nothing. If the group is large enough there not going to throw 100's of people in jail for sharing a blunt....like, even though here on RIU were all over america but we could schedule a day and have smoke inns around the country that would make the news for sure and that would spread the word to other states...

The real key to success with that is that IF they do arrest everyone, everyone demand a speedy trial by jury, fuck a plea. If EVERYONE who got arrested went to trial, our system would come to a grinding halt. It would paralyze the courts.

True that! lets go to court imagine thousands of jury trials stacked up over one weekend

Go see Where the Buffalo Roam, with Bill Murray. You may consider politics "stupid", but these "stupid politics" affect your life in almost every imaginable way.

They'd HAVE to rethink the entire system. NO WAY for them to actually take each case to trial. The main reason the system is so ready to arrest people is the plea bargain system. I have seen them handle 20 cases in less than 15 min.
They'd be forced to stop arresting folks for dumb shit like pot, and focus on real crime for a change. We still have the right to a speedy trial, and that could not possibly happen should everyone go to trial. They'd be cutting folks loose left and right, and quite possibly face a shitload of 24USC1983 actions for civil rights violations. It does still work for now.

Think about the scale of it. In order to get the US federal government to change, it would mean majority to 2/3 of the states would have to fully support a bill in congress. The red states just aren't gonna let that happen - but I do believe it is just a matter of time, because as they old, scared, clingy religious/guns(!) people die, its a new world with a new mind.

i had this idea a long time ago, let me know what you guys think

u have six ryder trucks on a 6 lane highway right before rush hour driving side by side on a loop highway that is a huge circle around a city.

each truck takes one lane and drives the same speed side by side, all the trucks travel the slowest allowable speed on the highway (45 MPH)

on top of the large trucks are huge banners that read somthing like "Responsible Adults for Marijuana"

"Freedom"

now these signs will be seen from the air and all the choppers who will report on this while traffic is backed up for miles behind these trucks

the trucks just keep driving at the slowest speed allowable round and round the highway untill they are somhow pulled over.

I dont see any laws being broken, maybe disterbing the peace

anyway this incident will make national news

then copy cats can arrange thier own truck missions blocking the highway like this in thier cities

eventually it would become maybe a tradition for people in cities around the USA and all over the world to pull this stunt off on April 20th at 4:20 of every year

i bet the whole world would talk about it then:bigjoint:

what do think, all we need it 6 ballzy individials to do this first run, say on the widest part of I85 going through atlanta GA i think its 6 or 8 lanes

you would make the news within minets if we did that

so what do you think?:lol:bongsmilie

hows that for standing up and taking action:blsmoke:

If no one objects, I am going to post those email and postal addresses for Obama often here.
I hope everyone reads the news artilce on Pamela Anderson's letter to Obama:
Pamela to Barack: Legalize Pot, Please
(Nov. 20) - Pamela Anderson got political on her blog this week and provided Barack Obama with a list of recommendations that included legalizing pot. She promises it's a genuine request and writes, "We should legalize marijuana... this would make our borders less corrupt... save children in the long run... create jobs and be good for the environment." Oh, Pam.
Anderson's blog includes advice for the future president which range from conventional to surgical requests. She writes that the justice system and jails are faulty. "It is a broken system that enrages more people than it helps- not saying that there aren't people who need to be jailed... but jail should be a holding cell for justice and not a lifelong waste of taxpayers money to run a spa for criminals," Anderson writes.
Anderson brings a heated argument to the table, stating most child molesters are let free, while other criminals waste away in jail. "In most cases child molesters are walking free... Government must castrate every molester or potential molester... our children need more protection," she writes.

hey if you didnt notice, every time theres a chance to vote on marijuana propositions something gets passed. this year michigan and massachussetts joined the medical marijuana list and i've heard that a lot of other states are working towards this as well. i think at the point where the majority of our states if not all states have accepted medical marijuana, then the fed gov will seriously think about legalizing. my guess is that in the next 5-10 years it will be legalized. thats just my optimistic opinion though.

The gov. couldn't sell marijuana like they do tobacco. You can grow marijuana, harvest it, dry it and smoke it all on your own without the use of any outside source, that means nobody can claim the rights to the plant, not even the gov. That would be like claiming the rights to h2o or all spruce trees... Tobacco is different, as it's refined and altered to a point they can pattent it, they pattent the process, not the actual tobacco plant. Can't pattent it, can't produce it, can't make any money off selling or taxing it...
i think its illegal to grow tobacco on your own without a permit isnt it. the government would make so much money just by selling marijuana growing permits and also taxing each plant like California was trying to do this year.

I'd really like to know how it can happen that the vast majority of the population is either pro marijuana, or at the very worst are ambivalent about it. How does the government convince the general population that the majority of them believes that pot is dangerous, when in fact they don't.

Putillor,
Pot growing would be handled much like home breweries. You're only allowed to brew so much beer, or refine only so much liquor for personal use before you need a tax stamp. Hopefully, they'd actually issue the stamps this time!!

dont worry people, its only a matter of time now that 13 states have some kind of reform of their marijuana laws. And in one of the bigger cities in Cali, they have about 80 medical marijuana disecories. Apparently they are like soda machines. And most importantly, our pesident elect is prime for the hope of country wide reform.

it is a federal crime to grow tobbaco.. much worse than marijuana... they can actualy tax tobbaco. there not letting the poster child for tax get grown under there supervision......

Thanks alot everyone.. probably didnt read the whole thread. but atleast theres some real good ideas coming from it..
We should all right barak a letter like roseman said... everyone send it. then we have everyone sign a paetition witht there real names-emails, get it all noterized and fancy and send him a copy of that aswell.... we could contactNORML too. there is a NORML center in ma city... the they could do there thing if they think we did ours...ya ever notice when you go to a voting booth it says marijuana, not cannabis.. kus the history of the name. most older people hear marijuana and think back to reefer madness.... and lets be serious. who are the people that are most of the voters... older people. so all that means is ya gotta vote.

obama smokes ciggerates. he prolly used to burn...
